GLX Night Work - Weekly Look-Ahead
Night work planned Friday, August 26 through Wednesday, September 1
(Work Schedules are subject to change based on weather, workforce availability, supply-chain issues and other factors)
Night work scheduled for the upcoming week is a continuation of the activity we’ve seen over the past few weeks. The primary activity continues to be the completion of the noise and retaining walls along the east/north side of the MBTA right-of-way.
Notable nighttime work areas this week include:
- There will be a continued nighttime focus on completing the noise wall panel installations from Ball Square to the area north of Lowell Street. More generally, the entire east/north side of the Medford Branch (from Monsignor O’Brien Highway to Ball Square), may experience panel placement work at night to fill gaps where they exist in otherwise completed walls. In addition to wall work, the fitting out of the Overhead Catenary Poles and the pulling of catenary wires will also continue.
- In addition to wall panel placement, signal and electrical work is expected in and around various GLX station platforms. This work is usually quieter than wall panel placement as it does not generally require the use of heavy machinery.
We also encourage our followers to check for regular construction updates at www.mass.gov/glx.
