Medford to Award ARPA Funding to Nonprofits Aiding in Pandemic Recovery
Application Process for Eligible Nonprofit Organizations that Serve Medford Opens March 9 to Help with Operational Costs and Increased Demand for Services
City to Hold Informational Session for Interested Nonprofits on March 8 at 6pm via Zoom
(MEDFORD) - The City of Medford is launching its ARPA subrecipient grant award program for eligible nonprofits that serve the Medford community, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced. By utilizing a portion of its remaining federal funds, the City will award one-time grants to nonprofits that were affected by the pandemic as well as servicing people and opportunities in recovering from COVID-19 related hardships.
“We’re investing a percentage of our ARPA funding to assist area nonprofits as they navigate programming and recovery operations from the pandemic,” Mayor Lungo-Koehn said. “This funding opportunity will make a direct impact on the lives of our most vulnerable community members and work toward addressing the needs identified in our community survey.”
Over the summer of 2022, the City launched its community survey to solicit community feedback and help inform priorities for its subrecipient program. Based on the data collected from the survey, the City identified several areas that were selected for investment. Over 60 percent of respondents said they would like to see money allocated to social services including food assistance and housing services, specifically affordable housing.
Medford ARPA subrecipient applications will be limited to nonprofit organizations that serve Medford in the areas of housing, food insecurity, and social services. Program funding will be awarded to organizations as a sub-award from the recipient, the City of Medford, to be used for eligible projects, programming, and more.
The application for nonprofits will open on March 9, 2023, and close on April 7, 2023. There will be a public information session with Federal Funds Manager Lorena Escolero via Zoom on March 8 at 6pm to review the application process, details, and answer any questions. The link to this meeting will be available on the City calendar.
“We’re able to make a considerable and lasting impact on community organizations that serve Medford with this subrecipient program,” said Lorena Escolero. “We strongly encourage nonprofits that work to address critical social services like food access and housing stability to apply for funding.”
