But after she broadcast the grilling she gave one official, she was suspended by the cable company, whose board is appointed by the city. The company also changed its rules to ban controversial programming, requiring broadcasters to get written permission from anyone they portrayed.
Last
week, however, U.S. District Judge Michael Ponsor in Springfield ruled
that such shows constitute a "public forum" and have First Amendment
protection.
AOTV lawyer Peter Epstein said he had not read the verdict and could not comment.
Breanna Lungo Koehn
John Falco
Council, Room 207
85 Geo P Hassett Drive
Medford MA 02155
Dear Mr. Falco and Mrs. Lungo-Koehn:
I want to thank you both for acknowledging my hard work and honest efforts in taping Room 207 on
Facebook Live.
My
official Medford business, Medford Info Central, was damaged and harmed
last night when I was not allowed to speak on the free speech
restrictions Adam Knight, Richard Caraviello and Fred Dello Russo Jr.
want to implement AND when they knew I wanted to speak about the Housing
Authority and, instead, fractured my free speech rights. Mark Tonello,
Mr. Caraviello's water boy, was in the back using his cellphone.
Doesn't his wife work for the housing authority? Mr. Caraviello's
actions were - clearly - to shut down speech about the housing authority
when they knew I received responses to public records requests and the
authority was on the agenda.
The
citizens of Medford who DO NOT receive CABLE TV never get to see the
wrongful conduct of Knight, Dello Russo and Caraviello week after week.
That those three in particular would claim that the public doesn't want
to see local government in action (inaction -noun: inaction lack of action where some is expected or appropriate - is
more like it) is preposterous. Hearing Frederick N. Dello Russo,,Jr.,
say his constituents are "creeped out" by a camera is pure deflection.
This is a serious discussion, but the old Johnny Carson joke about
Philip Roth (who wrote the free speech classic Portnoy's Complaint, one
of the dirtiest books ever written) is appropriate here:
"Philip Roth is a nice guy, but I don't want to shake his hand."
"Roth
was denounced by leading Jewish figures, while critics went wild and
the novel became an instant bestseller. The respectable boy from Newark,
New Jersey had embarked on his lifelong work refining what has been
called his art of immaturity." (the Guardian)
Medford's
undertaker, Frederick N. Dello Russo, Jr. is not a nice guy, and people
are creeped out to shake his hand, yet Mr. Dello Russo is not a
character in a fictitious novel. We can understand that the anti-social
Dello Russo, who laughingly sits on the board of Still Harbor which
espouses that " we need to create a more kind, equitable, and sustainable world,"
would be less than honest with the public. Dello Russo has been
disruptive to Bob Penta, Adam Knight has been disruptive to Jeanne
Martin, let's be honest here, those three councilors spit on First
Amendment Rights with impunity.
Councilor Lungo-Koehn made a courageous point last night that those
three councilors do not like the person doing the video taping, thus
they interfere in the public's right to know how poorly they conduct
themselves when they harass a Ms. Martin or a Mr. Penta. I'm the
messenger - and let's be honest - I am far more articulate - and more
well-informed - than Knight, Dello Russo or Caraviello could ever hope
to be.
Jealous,
sleazy politicians that stand in the way of the public's right to know
need to be removed from local government. They have now provided me the
evidence to show the world what a danger Knight, Caraviello and Dello
Russo, Jr. are to our way of life.
Michael
Marks, who cost the city a bundle when he voted against Cheryl Voight,
is sliding backwards into his old ways If you are looking for a hero
in this saga, do not look to Mr. Marks. His cowardly failure to stand up
for the people is reminiscent of the sleazy politician in 1983's film
Porky's II where Seward County Commissioner Bob Gebhardt (played by
Edward Winter) makes promises but fails to keep them because the
political winds scare him. Michael Marks
should
join SAG/AFTRA and petition to be on the remake of Porky's 2 as he's
not going to get any Profiles in Courage nominations for his cowardice
and failure to stand up to these thugs. I've enclosed the Cheryl
Voight case where Bob Penta and Stephanie Burke did the RIGHT THING
while Mr. Marks did the WRONG THING:

Mr.
Marks - Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People is a
nice book, however I do not believe in fiction. Fact is, you let the
citizens of Medford down. Of course, sitting on a council with
Caraviello, Dello Russo and Knight would make Kim Jong-un look
respectable so your saintly demeanor is just that, Michael, a demeanor.
State
Rep Paul Donato has stated that political speech is "the most protected
right," yet speech in Medford has been limited and undermined by former
council president Robert Maiocco, former council president Paul A.
Camuso, former council president Frederick N. Dello Russo, Jr., and
repeatedly by Richard F. Caraviello, including but not limited to his
malicious prosecution.
The
huge rumor in the city is that Stephanie Burke and former Mayor McGlynn
are preparing Mrs. Cugno to run for council to push the embarrassment
known as Richard F. Caraviello off of the not-so-honorable body. Though
Mrs. Cugno would be an improvement (Donald Duck would be an
improvement,) however, Mrs. Cugno would also - allegedly - represent the
shaping of speech the way Mrs. Burke and former Mayor McGlynn want it.
As
I am suing the city council, as well as Mr. Caraviello, the city, the
Medford Police, the office of the D.A. and others, the wrongful conduct
of Adam Knight, Frederick N. Dello Russo, Jr. and Richard F. Caraviello
will be in the spotlight.
Last
night's egregious and unwarranted expulsion of a citizen for no reason
whatsoever is another piece of evidence against the bumbling liar,
Richard F. Caraviello.
He will be back in court and - again - Caraviello will lose.
The
Medford Police department can't be used as Caraviello's "personal storm
troopers," as Johnny Byers noted. Chief Sacco should take note of
that note! No more abuse of the police department to enable thugs like
Caraviello to inhibit freedom of the press.
More to come on these issues and more on my news outlet.
Sincerely,
A victim of Richard F>Caraviello

A proposed deal that would cost the city of Waukegan $42,500 to settle a lawsuit filed by a local activist remains in limbo.
The
lawsuit filed by Waukegan resident Ralph Peterson — first in federal
court in June and then in Lake County court a week ago — argues that the
city violated his First Amendment rights at three different City
Council meetings.
The
incidents include an August 2015 meeting when he was told not to take
photos during the meeting; a December 2015 incident when he was escorted
out of the meeting after bringing up a former Waukegan police chief in
the context of the now-disgraced former Fox Lake Lt. Charles Joseph
Gliniewicz; and a March 2016 meeting when he was told he couldn't speak
during the public-comment portion because someone else had put his name
on a list of those wishing to speak.
Peterson
originally demanded $125,000 to drop the lawsuit but has said since
then he's willing to accept the $42,500, which first came before the
Waukegan City Council a month ago but was tabled and then tabled again
later that month.

COMMENT ON THE PETERSON CASE
Michael, that's crude. In the city of Medford, Massachusetts they violate free speech rights all the time, costing citizens thousands of dollars when they file false charges, the city losing the cases, and engaging in threats, free speech violations and malicious abuse of process. It is sick. When a Ralph Peterson fights for free speech rights we say "bravo." Chicago, like Medford Mass., is far from ethical. Don't get me started, it's an ugly path of malfeasance when you rip away the layers and see how creepy alleged "public servants" can be. You should be praising Mr. Peterson's efforts. See the Cheryl Voight case in Medford, or the news article on how the City Council President filed a vicious case and lost 1/31/17. A thug in public office is still a thug, and Mr. Peterson has spent time and effort cleaning up your city. You should be helping him.
