Multiple people have been shot on Micah's Pond Way early Wednesday morning, according to reports.

At 12:32 a.m., Twitter user @NEFirebuff tweeted, "Multiple people shot on (Micah's) Pond Way. (One) victim in serious condition. Medflight being requested."

Two men reportedly fled on Williams street toward Woburn, and are considered armed, according to scanner reports.

Around 12:50 a.m., Twitter user @alertnewengland tweeted, "...Perimeter established, (Massachusetts State Police) deploying K9 to search for suspect. Requesting air wing."

The trio of suspects, two of which were apprehended in a vehicle in Medford and one in Stoneham before 3 a.m., were expected to appear in a Woburn court Wednesday morning. At the scene, a State Police trooper declined to comment on the case, referring Stoneham Patch to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office, as they were handling the investigation.

Stoneham, Woburn, Melrose, Reading and State Police responded to the crime scene. Billerica, Wilmington and State Police K9 units also responded.

Shortly after 3 a.m., investigators appeared to begin processing the crime scene. The home, located in a residential cul-de-sac, was taped off and several officers could be seen discussing the case in the driveway.

Alessandro said, “Joe was going through a little situation because the aftermath of that – what you see overseas – these kids come back here and then – I said Joe maybe you want to go in – let’s go for the police department and he went to take the test and he wanted to become a state cop.”

One suspect has already been arraigned in Somerville District Court.

Two other suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Middlesex District Court on Friday.

The Middlesex D.A.’s Office has not released the names of any of the suspects or a motive for the shooting.

Court records show Puopolo had been arrested twice for assault and battery in recent years.

“He wanted to help his country, that’s all he kept saying right after he got out of high school,” Dominica Puopolo said. “He wanted to be a hero in everybody’s eyes.”

Puopolo said her brother had been working for their father’s auto detailing business since returning home and had applied for veterans benefits. Alessandro said his godson “had some issues” readjusting that he was working out with a social worker.

“He wanted to be on the front line,” Alessandro said. “And now he has to go like this. (He) was an innocent boy. I’m just so devastated over it.”

Puopolo recently became a first-time uncle, beaming over the “chunky” niece he affectionately called “moo moo,” said his sister, the child’s mother.

Puopolo, who played hockey at Stoneham High School and Pope John XXIII High School in Everett, wanted to join the State Police and recently had taken an entrance exam, Alessandro said. After graduation, his godfather said, Puopolo joined the Army.

He was discharged as a private in June 2012 and spent time since then playing hockey, boxing, and working with his father in the family’s car-detailing business, Alessandro said.

“He was a good boy,’’ his godfather said. “This is so devastating. If you didn’t have a nickel, he’d give you a dollar. That’s the kind of person he was.’’
