The amount of time trying to change a school building name as compared to coming up with creative ways to better educate our kids during this pandemic and getting them back to school should be the paramount issue of the school committee. But no, the school committee has taken an inordinate amount of time to evaluate trying to discredit Christoper Columbus of some 500 years ago as compared to today's re-visionary anti-Columbus history sponsored by Mr. Ruseau. If this name change issue is such an important matter, we should stop and reconsider every school name, street name, room name, building name and all other locations or places in the city that have been named after someone but has never had a background check. Not until the Johnnies-come-lately who have been recently elected within the past two years to our city's elected positions has this problem existed. What is so disingenuous about School Committeeman Paul Ruseau name change proposal is that he has led, like sheep to slaughter, all but one school committee woman to support his proposal. Medford taxpaying citizens do not let the school committee waste any more time on this matter and demand that they get back to their paid job responsibility ... that being to find the best way to educate our children without trying to dismantle history and call it education. I re-emphasize, if this name change is such an important matter, we should stop and reconsider every school name, street name, room name, building name and all other locations or places in the city that have been named but has never had a background check until the Johnnies-come-lately who have been recently elected within the past two years to our city's elected positions. And that would not be the task of the school committee. Let not mine or opposing comments ever be trashed because of not liking or by insulting the person who expressed them. Respectfully written.
