The Curse of Michael J. McGlynn
Medford is under a curse. The curse of McGlynn.
Like some very angry ghost, the McGlynnites are losing power.
Adam Knight is a McGlynn soldier, so is Caraviello, so is Bob Maiocco. Mark Rumley ...Scarpelli, John Falco...the once powerful gang is splintered, McGlynn unable to use his broad corner office, his command center.
Mr. Rumley was city lawyer not on merit, but because of his long friendship with McGlynn. That's how a novice, a Pro se litigant, was able to prevail over Rumley so many times.
With the diminished McGlynn cronies at their weakest, they are also at their most dangerous. Desperate to hold onto power the old fashioned way (think Gerry Clemente) these creeps face a very organized group of crackpots in Our Revolution: Medford, a not-so-organized Medford United, and the merry-go-round that is Mobilize Medford.
The good news, apathetic residents, is that despite your ignorance over your homeland, your failure to read up and be prepared come election day, there is so much fracturing in the city that all bets are off.
Breanna could stay mayor. Brady Doherty could move into her family home, Falco could give it a try, who the hell knows.
Why is McGlynn not running...ha ha ha ha ha...as if we don't know. Most likely he's not allowed to.
McGlynn's strategy was to manipulate extremely stupid, naive types - Adam Knight, Rick Caraviello, Ed Finn, Rumley, Leo A. Sacco, Jr. Paul Camuso, George Scarpelli...individuals who were no threat to his supremacy, and too dumb and eager to hold onto the crumbs Mike would throw them, so that they wouldn't betray him (McGlynn.)
Now that their leader is in the shadows...allegedly working with Combined Properties : 295 Canal St #500, Malden, MA 02148 and Gilbane Corporation,
the specter of Mike McGlynn is still out there...and still haunting your life and your community. Who is behind all these condos going up?
The good news: McGlynn doesn't have the juice he once had
The bad news: he still has his fingers and family tentacles on all sorts of levers of power.
The advice of this psychic journalist:
Beware.
