So Mayor McGlynn is going to finally give the citizens access TV after an election.   Every other city and town surrounding Medford had their candidates giving a point of view on their access stations.  The problem for McGlynn is that with too many years in office, any opponent could get the word out that McGlynn doesn't want.

So we were effectively censored this election cycle, despite Mark Rumley saying to Judge Jackson-Thompson that the city doesn't "squelch" free speech.

So why, we ask the City Solicitor, would a wife of a board member of TV3 have the audacity to tell the city council that she wants to "amend free speech" - which is what TV3 did.  Their idea of the First Amendment was that it applied only to them, not to you, the people paying the bill.

Now that we were successful in "dissolving" the board of directors of that entity, the proverbial bucket of water to melt the wicked witch, what is next for our cable TV subscriber dollars?

This twelve part series is going to explore just that.

In order to avoid the problems at the new station, we must take a hard look at what went wrong with the previous regime, something the Judge Jackson-Thompson report and the failed audit should help identify. We can also utilize the work of a government agency in safeguarding fraud at housing authorities.  Housing authorities, like public access tv, involve public monies.  Why reinvent the wheel when the information to protect access assets is readily available through the Inspector General's office in regard to housing.

This site is helpful and we will look at how cable TV subscriber monies were spent in the past 20 years, and how to avoid the mistakes made by the previous regime, as well as alerting authorities to anything we uncover in regards to Medford Community Cablevision's failure to perform.

What is Embezzlement?

Embezzlement is a form of white-collar crime in which a person misappropriates the assets entrusted to him or her.  In this type of fraud the assets of the PHA are switched from their intended purpose to the personal use of the embezzler.  Embezzlement is a breach of the fiduciary responsibilities placed upon a person.  Next to tenant fraud, embezzlement and theft are the next leading types of cases investigated by the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
