RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Rancho City Councilor has been found guilty of filing a false police report.
According to the Rio Rancho Observer, a jury handed down the verdict against David Bency Thursday.
The case stemmed from a report Bency filed with the Rio Rancho Police
Department in March accusing then City Councilor Lonnie Clayton of
damaging a campaign sign for the District 6 Council Race.
Bency didn’t see the alleged incident first hand but claimed a friend witnessed an older man kicking the sign.
A sentencing date has not been set.
