Isaac Hayes vs Karen Carpenter CLOSE TO YOU, I may record the song tonight....Dec 5 2022

 Black Moses Wins!!!

Close to You

Burt Bacharach/Hal David must have been so proud of this rendition!  Listen to that liquid voice bringing the emotion of the song home...

Karen Carpenter just kept repeating the chorus like she was reading off of a dinner menu, same atrocity as when she ruined "Superstar," but Hayes, Warwick and others, they give you the true meaning of the song...as Janis Joplin said, they can tell the secrets of the universe in just one second of vocal phrasing (paraphrasing Janis.)  Carpenter with her syrupy voice, just could not.

 NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE

Hayes' arrangements are so unique and endearing.  Though Dionne Warwick does amaZing with "Close to You" (and why not? Bacharach/David, her team, composed it!) Isaac Hayes and his incredible voice, he puts the indelible soul into it!

i have 30,000 vinyl albums over the years, and in a new batch I was given (free of charge!) was the COVER of Black Moses, but no vinyl in it.
That's OK, I put album covers up as art, and have the entire CD on YouTube for free.
