For the sixth time this school year, a CCSD employee has been arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
LAS VEGAS, NV - A former junior varsity cheerleader coach at Spring Valley High School has been arrested and is facing two counts of lewdness with a minor over the age of 14 and two counts of child abuse, Clark County School District Police announced Tuesday.
Joshua Balelo, 29, was arrested on Monday, March 19 and was booked into Clark County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2, according to court documents.
Balelo worked as a JV coach at the school since August 2013, but was not a teacher at the school or full time employee of Clark County School District. In September 2017, CCSDPD received a tip that Balelo may have had an inappropriate relationship with two female students, according to CCSDPD Capt. Ken Young. He was let go from his coaching position that same month.
The arrest of Balelo is the sixth arrest of CCSD personnel for having an inappropriate relationship with a student or students in the 2017-18 school year.
