About the CPA

The Community Preservation Act was adopted by Medford voters in 2015, approving a 1.5% surcharge on real estate taxes. The first $100,000 of property value is exempt from the calculation; in 2024, the average single-family homeowner in Medford pays $85.48 annually in CPA surcharge. The CPA fund also receives state match money annually; this match varies from year to year, averaging 20% of the total revenue raised at the local level.

This results in an average of approximately $2 million per year to fund projects focusing on Historic Preservation, Affordable Housing support, and Open Space/Recreation. CPA legislation dictates that a minimum of 10% of the annual CPA allotment be dedicated to each of the three categories, 5% to administrative program costs, and the remaining 65% can be spent amongst the three categories. Over half of municipalities in Massachusetts have had voters adopt the Community Preservation Act, since the Commonwealth adopted the state law in 2000.

Since the first funding round in 2018, Medford has reinvested nearly $12 million into over 95 community projects.

Katie Britt: Poor Joe Battenfool at the Boston Herald

This is why I ended my subscription to the Boston Herald.

Desperately MAGA Joe Battenfraud at the Herald is freaking
out that Biden stomped on Republican lies at the State of the
Union, all the Howie Carr disinformation/delusional defamation
"evaporated," as I think Dan Rather said, as Godzilla stomped on
hapless Speaker Johnson, too busy checking out if his son Jack
is looking at gay porn during the speech.

"Jack, can I borrow your copies of G.Q., and don't tell mom" you
can almost feel coming off of the lame duck Speaker as he kept
rolling his eyes wishing he will some day be in the president's place.

It's nice to have dreams and goals, Mr. Speaker, keep checking
those porn stats for your son.  Ignoramus.

Speaking of Stats, I don't know why Mr. Speaker doesn't find old
Stat Smith (he's actually younger than moi...) when trying to steal
an election.   He's in my ward, Mr. Johnson, and has some experience
in that regard.  Stealing elections, that is.

Cute Republican johnoldsgop@gmail.com John Olds
kept sending me postcards....ha ha ...as if I was going to vote for him
instead of Joe Biden.   Olds lost, like most Republicans do in Massachusetts.

Paraphrasing my late girlfriend of 20 years, "I'll sleep with you, but voting is
much too personal."   God I miss that gal, I kept the relationship very pure.
In 20 years I never had sex with her...there was always some handsome guy
coming between us.  Literally and figuratively.

God I miss that girl.

But let us get back to business regarding Joe Battenfiend and the
red meat thrown to the fizzling red wave at the Boston  Herald

Katie Britt in the kitchen when Roe vs Wade is the issue, well,
even a dimwit like Batts-in-the-Belfry Feld understands is a dog whistle.
That's all Republicans do, dog whistle to the base eroding like Trump's
bank account.  HA HA.

Katie Britt is not ready for prime time.

Reminds me of the unethical station manager at Winchester TV.
They were so freaked out by Gilbert Gottfried, Gallagher, Leonard Maltin,
Tommy James and so many others on my show. The manager came
in screaming at me for our private conversation in his office, alerting
him to the fact that young Anthony was uneducated and an improper hire.

The confidential conversation disappeared when dumb Dave was screaming,
and Anthony didn't know what hit him.  He wanted to know what I said to the
boss.

"Anthony, I simply said you were not ready for prime time."

Puzzled Anthony looked at me and asked "What's prime time?"

I looked him straight in the eye and said "Your Honor, I rest my case,"
and walked away

Sheesh.  That's Katie Britt, not ready for prime time, and Battenfumble
writes another lame duck  piece about another Maga nutcase.

My blog has All Time 2,805,188  page views as of 8:47 am March 9, 2024,
that's more votes than John Olds got...ha ha ha

Joe Battenfeld has 79 views in six years on YouTube.

Republican City and Ward Committee person after Bernie Green,
Bob Cappucci, came running up to me.  "I was at Carroll's and
some guy was sitting next to me saying "I can't wait to go home and
read Medford Information Central."   HA, too funny

That's because I'm always funny, and as my editor at the Medford Transcript
said "They all thought you were crazy, and one by one they came in here and
said Joe Vig was right.  You were spot on."

I always am.

And Joe Biden crushed it, and the Donald is heading toward Riker's Island

HA HA....and the GOP gives you....Katie Britt.  Not ready for prime time,
and with the Boston Herald's failing numbers ....

In 2017 the Boston Business Journal wrote this
The Herald's average Sunday print circulation three years ago was 60,960, according to the Alliance for Audited Media, which tracks newspaper circulation figures. For the three months ending this past September, that figure dropped to 45,833 -- a loss of nearly 25 percent, or 15,000 readers. And while the number of readers on its website and app has steadily risen, it's not enough to offset the loss of print subscribers.   https://www.masslive.com/news/boston/2017/12/the_heralds_circulation_is_sin.html

Battenfreak has 79 views on YouTube in 6 years (heck, one of my songs has 9.6 thousand views, go figure,)
my blog 200,000 shy of 3 million and Katie Britt takes on Joe "Godzilla" Biden.

Katie in the Kitchen, Roe v Wade, do the math.

Time for Katie to call Stat Smith.   John Olds too.
Give them some tips on stealing an election.

Mayor Lungo-Koehn Appoints Medford Deputy Chief Todd Evans as Interim Fire Chief

Mayor Lungo-Koehn Appoints Medford Deputy Chief Todd Evans as Interim Fire Chief
City reviewing proposals and deciding on next steps regarding the weekend of Feb. 2nd-6th

(MEDFORD)—Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn has appointed Medford Deputy Chief Todd Evans as interim chief of the Medford Fire Department. Evans joined the Medford Fire Department in 2001. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2021.

His appointment comes after the Mayor attempted to appoint an interim chief, who was set to start February 26th, from outside of the fire department, but the candidate later rescinded the offer after being dissuaded by union leaders.

The Mayor then met separately with the five deputy chiefs of the Medford Fire Department last week. As a result of those interviews, the Mayor determined that Deputy Chief Evans was the best choice to lead the department until a permanent Chief is named.

“Union leadership scared off my first appointment because he was from another fire department. Hopefully they will support Chief Evans as he has shown to be an honest and forward-thinking leader, who recognizes the need to modernize and expand oversight in the department,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “I’m confident that with the right support and managerial training, Chief Evans will be able to meet any challenge that may arise. The fire department needs to rebuild trust with the community in light of recent events that occurred in early February costing our taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars. It is my hope that Chief Evans and I can work together to ensure that something like that will never happen again, and that we focus on moving the department forward.”

The City is also in the process of reviewing proposals and discussing next steps regarding the weekend of February 2nd-6th as well as an extensive organizational review of the fire department to determine what measures need to be enacted to better service the community.

“The Medford Fire Department has been my home for twenty-two years and getting the chance to lead this group is a tremendous honor,” Evans said. “Thank you to Mayor Lungo-Koehn with trusting me with this responsibility and offering her guidance and support in this new role.”

New Ian Hunter, We Have Advance Copy!!!! Even Karen and Richard Carpenter, who were very anti-Mott the Hoople, may have chosen to cover it had the Carpenters survived.

I havc permission to review the first single!  The rest of the album, April 19, 2024, but I can tell you this, the sequel to the last album with Ringo Starr and others is amazing.
_________________________

The first single from the album is a driving rocker, noting that it will "only take a minute of your precious time."  Insightful with elements of Ian Hunter's vocal inflections from previous discs, including as way back as Rant in 2001. That was Hunter's 10th studio album and it is unbelievably 23 years later.  It is a guitar onslaught and production by Ian and Andy York is sublime.  A little nick of the "All the Way from Memphis" opening riff, the talents of Joe Elliot, Brian May and Taylor Hawkins gives the audience a glimpse of something great on the horizon.  Even Karen and Richard Carpenter, who were very anti-Mott the Hoople, may have chosen to cover it had the Carpenters survived.

Now that Mott The Hoople is reuniting (perhaps Sean “Never Say Never Again” Connery should M.C. the show?) a solo album from the usually unpredictable lead vocalist of that underappreciated British ensemble is the inadvertent prelude to that long-awaited Hoople get together.

Track 2 should have been Track 1, an exploding pop treasure with the unlikely title of “Arms & Legs”.
