(Peabody) Council to forgo salary increases

By Alan Burke

Mayor, councilors received raise last year

  AT MEDFORD CITY COUNCIL
DEMANDING THE COUNCILORS RESCIND THE FAT PAY
RAISE FOR THE MAYOR'S BLOATED PAY CHECK AND
FOR THEMSELVES
14-300-
to address the Council on pay raises

_____________________________________________
PEABODY — If the City Council regrets tying its yearly stipend to the salary of the mayor, councilors made no mention of it last night.
In a brief action as the subcommittee of whole, they pushed off consideration of boosting Mayor Ted Bettencourt’s $105,000 salary until next year. The mayor had previously notified the council that he does not want a salary increase. In a one-sentence note he told them, “I would respectfully request that no salary increase be authorized for fiscal year 2015.” (The fiscal year begins in July.)

FROM JV
At 10:25 AM today (3/18/14) I spoke with someone at Peabody City Hall regarding the Peabody City Council NOT giving itself a pay raise this year.

Here is how it works:
The Peabody Mayor's salary is reviewed annually.

The Mayor wrote a letter to the Council not to consider a raise for himself.

Council didn't rescind it, they chose not to give the Mayor a raise,
and their pay is tied in to the mayor's - it  gets increased (or does not increase) according to how much of a raise the Mayor might get.

The Peabody Mayor and City Council did the right thing.

The Medford City Council - shamefully - already bloated, in a vulgar and detestable fashion, did the money grab. That Caraviello is so defensive about taking monies he hasn't earned, monies that would better serve the infrastructure, and that Caraviello likens hard-working citizens to the alleged criminal up on charges of a false bomb threat, just PROVES Caraviello and his greedy pals,
Camuso, Dello Russo and Knight, try to crush Free Speech and take the money and run.

Shame on Fred Dello Russo, his fat wallet expanding every time someone dies; making huge sums of money off of grief.  Then, to add insult to injury, Dello Russo takes even more from residents.

Dello Russo is lazy along with incompetent. He is often staring at the ceiling or making dumb references to public access like "we should have a twenty-something running it" when an unqualified twenty-something spent our monies attacking councilors rather than facilitating access TV.  Dello Russo loves his raise, he allegedly runs off to Vegas to gamble while we have broken streets and empty storefronts and unpainted crosswalks.

Hey, if someone gets killed, Dello Russo  might profit.  Why should he paint crosswalks when it hurts his business to do so!

SPLAT - another resident run over by a speedster on Salem Street, Freddy Dello Russo can run off to Vegas to gamble away that money made off of someone's grief.

Free Speech - it's why Dello Russ doesn't want an access TV station.

Watch Fred Dello Russo stare at the ceiling tonight or slouch in his chair the way the former TV station manager slouched at City Hall instead of doing his job.

It's disgraceful.

Council raises mayor's salary

Driscoll gets pay boost to $120,000, council to $12,000

http://www.salemnews.com/local/x1196462383/Council-raises-mayors-salary
By Neil H. Dempsey Staff Writer
SALEM — The City Council approved a $20,000 raise for Mayor Kim Driscoll last night, making her one of the highest-paid mayors in the region.

The council voted 9 to 1 to boost the mayor’s salary to $120,000 a year. Since the pay for councilors themselves is pegged at 10 percent of the mayor’s, they’ll also be getting a 20 percent raise, from $10,000 a year to $12,000.

Two people spoke against the raise during the public comments section of the meeting.

sent to Solicitor and City Council

TV3 failed to cooperate with a prior audit. An audit is necessary prior to dissolution. It HAS to be independent of the board of directors because of Frank Pilleri's past history lying about the
"election" set for January 19, 2008
http://massland.org/files/dissolution_public_charity_BBA_Rockefeller.pdf

Once the decision to dissolve is made, the charity or its qualifed agents and consultants should:

Perform an audit to determine which funds are restricted and what those restrictions are. This process will allow the charity to determine what funds are available for paying the costs of dissolu- tion and what remaining funds will be available to be distributed with court approval through the cy pres process to charities with similar charitable purposes. This audit can often be most efficiently performed by an independent auditing firm.

Who is auditing TV3 Medford?

Involuntary Dissolution

2. Involuntary dissolution
Involuntary dissolutions are rare. To involuntarily dissolve a public charity, the attorney general must petition the Supreme Judicial Court under M.G.L. c. 180, § 11B for the dissolution of such charitable corporation based on one of the following permissible causes: failure to submit required annual filings for two consecutive years or inactivity of the charity and its dis-solution would be in the public interest

Letter to City of Medford 3-18-14

Statement to be read the City Council 3-18-14

City of Medford
85 George P. Hassett Drive
Medford, MA 02155

Dear Mark Rumley, City Solicitor

The Board TV3 made an allegedly incriminating statement on Patch this evening:

March 17, 2014 at 07:44 PM
"MCC's fiscal year ends at the end of April. We won't be able to file the papers until that happens. So don't expect anything to hit the AG's office until May."   Arthur Alan Deluca, MCC Board

This statement on the Medford Patch appears to be in direct conflict with MCC President Frank Pilleri's statement in a letter (attached) where he expects this to "all go away" (Exhibit A, attached)

How is it "cooperation" when the board is stating publicly that they are NOT cooperating to get the dissolution in by April 30th, according to Deluca's statement this evening? City Council to be apprised of this on Tuesday, 3/18/14.

This is red meat for any investigator(s) from the police, to the D.A. or elsewhere, to consider, Deluca's statement as well as Pilleri's.

FROM THE AG'S OFFICE:
"I can confirm that the Division still has not received any dissolution paperwork from the organization."

March 17, 2014
Office of the Attorney General

Mr. Deluca admitted to violating the Agreement with the city when, as a TV3 board member allegedly running for Mayor, Deluca stated:
“I would want to do away with PEG channels so the money can come to the city,” said DeLuca. “You could still use that money to fund education at the high school — teach them how to put video on the Internet. We’d be freeing up the money to do other things with it.”
With initiatives like the Comcast Project Open Voice program, DeLuca said PEG access could go the way of the Internet and free up some extra dollars for the city.
http://www.wickedlocal.com/x1803293478/ELECTION-2013-Arthur-DeLuca-bills-himself-as-second-best-choice-for-mayor/?tag=2

In case anyone forgets the harassment Deluca exacted on citizens, here is a quote from former adviser to the board Matt Haberstroh

This ridiculous situation has gone on way to long. That the Mayor can let this situation run on so long is really out of character, it is time for the Mayor to pull the plug. By that I mean to rescind the contract that the city has with TV3. That’s right, start new. No elections with this board or this membership. The Mayor should hire an outside consultant to right the ship, re-write bylaws, re-write policies and procedures, and throw away the keys until this rat’s hole is fumigated.

Matthew Haberstroh, a former advisor to the TV3 board, has been a Medford resident for the last 12 years and was a former producer and staff person for Somerville Community Access Television, PBS/WGBH, History and Discovery Channel, and is currently a producer for Boston Productions.

http://insidemedford.com/2009/05/31/haberstroh-tv3-is-closed-shop/

If more evidence is necessary, the police need to look into Deluca's statement that he would take city co-owned equipment to sell off to pay for any fine if the IRS punishes Deluca, Harvey Alberg, Ron DeLucia and Frank Pilleri and possibly other board members

" If the IRS fines us we'll just add it to our list of liabilities and the dissolution court will instruct us how much to pay to the IRS. However much that is (say for argument's sake it is $10,000), when we pay it, that means $10,000 less to turn over to the City which means they have $10,000 less to put into creating a new public access station. And if the IRS fine is more money than is left in the corporation, the dissolution court COULD order us to sell off enough of our equipment to raise the funds to pay the fine."
Arthur Alan Deluca,

Keep in mind that the MCC filings stated a station manager was paid over 40K a year when that individual had a full time job in Boston at Logan Airport.  He worked part time for MCC, about two hours a night.  Where did that 40K or more go?

Cable TV subscribers respectfully request that the city look into these admissions by the TV3 Board and take the appropriate legal actions to protect the cable tv subscriber funds.

Citizens demand the checkbook, the meeting minutes, and any other information about this deleterious and deceitful "board of directors" of a non-profit which served itself, not the public that it was obligated to provide access to.

Office of the Attorney General

http://medford.patch.com/groups/joe-vigliones-blog/p/ags-office-medford-community-cablevision-inc-tv3-has-not-filed-its-dissolution-papers-yet

Dear Readers,
On Tuesday night the discussion at the City Council again turns to TV3 Medford's failure to cooperate with the residents, businesses, civic groups, taxpayers and cable TV subscribers.
Where the town of Reading's access station has MEETING MINUTES and FINANCIAL RECORDS available to the public (and a vibrant access station) in the City of Medford the disgraced Frank Pilleri and his incompetent staff and board of directors were too full of excuses to be honest with the people footing the bill.  The mantra of "private corporation" and other inappropriate deceptions was a pure violation of the public trust; a violation of the Agreement Pilleri signed with the sole authority, Mayor Michael J. McGlynn, whose skirt the discredited board of directors - Harvey Alberg, Ronald DeLucia, ex-VP Carl Galusi, Arthur Deluca, etc. etc. all hid behind.

Tonight, Arthur Deluca makes another statement which makes no sense on behalf of the board of directors.

The Attorney General's office said that Medford Community Cablevision, Inc. is technically not in compliance and will be in violation if they don't file by April 30, 2014.  Got that.  It's not conjecture, it's not a theory, it's what the AG's office stated.  And, people, a public records request was filed as well.

Here's the deception posted by Arthur Alan Deluca acting as if he knows what he's talking about; in direct conflict with what the AG's office stated:

March 17, 2014 at 07:44 PM
MCC's fiscal year ends at the end of April. We won't be able to file the papers until that happens. So don't expect anything to hit the AG's office until May.

___________________________________________________
"We won't be able to file the papers" until, what, the time has expired?

What planet is Deluca on?

Of course Deluca's behavior on the Patch as a board member of a 501c3 non-profit which violated ---strike that - which FRACTURED every rule in the book, is Exhibit A.

The citizens of Medford were cheated by Medford Community Cablevision, Inc.  Color bars adorn your Comcast Channel 3.  NOTHING is on the Verizon access channel.  A blank screen.

Arthur Deluca never mentions his obligation to the citizens, nor does he mention his inability to do the simplest things on behalf of the public.

Deluca just wants to use the cable tv computers to harass people because he's tired of the alleged "dial up" computer he uses at his home.

A lot more about this issue on Tuesday night at the City Council.

A public charity seeking to dissolve and transfer its remaining assets to another public charity, must receive the prior approval of the Supreme Judicial Court ("SJC") for both the dissolution and the transfer. Before seeking the SJC's approval, the Attorney General's Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division ("AGO") must receive notice of the proposed transfer and dissolution together with all required filings and forms. These Guidelines set forth the procedures and requirements for providing notice to the AGO, obtaining the AGO's assent and obtaining the approval of the SJC.
Please note that under M.G.L. c. 180, §11A(d), as amended on July 19, 2010, the SJC may provide authority for the Attorney General, rather than the SJC, to approve remaining asset transfers and dissolve certain organizations with net assets of less than an amount to be determined by the SJC. The SJC has not yet issued such a rule or order. Until it does, all with-asset dissolutions and accompanying asset transfers must be filed with, and approved by, the SJC.

Did Peabody City Council Rescind Pay raise?

162,797

http://medford.patch.com/groups/joe-vigliones-blog/p/peabody-city-council-might-be-giving-back-the-pay-hike--how-about-medford

Well, well, well, gluttony is out of fashion in Peabody, it seems, at least for the City Council.  Rumor has it, from a very good source, that the Peabody Council is about to rescind its pay raise voted in last February, 2013.

From the Peabody Patch
February 15, 2013      NOTE: 13 MONTHS AGO, 2013!
http://peabody.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/city-council-gives-first-raise-to-peabody-m...

Councilors voted 7-3 (Gravel, Manning-Martin and Mello all said "no") to increase their salaries to 9 percent of the mayor's salary, starting in 2014, and give school board members an $1,100 raise. They will now earn $5,100 for their service while councilors will earn about $9,450 (up from $7,466).
Until now, the council's salary was not tied to the mayor's, but the majority of councilors agreed with Gamache to keep their salary now at 9 percent of the mayor's pay going forward.
Gamache noted Salem councilors receive 10 percent of their mayor's salary and Beverly councilors receive about $12,000 while Lynn and Revere councilors earn around $15,000.
________________________________________________
Peabody City Councilors  - $7,466 to $9,450.00
Salem Councilors - 10 % of mayor's salary
Beverly Councilors $12,000
Revere Councilors $15,000

Medford Councilors - over 27,000.00 and a "blame the Mayor" game of some Councilors like Camuso and Dello Russo telling citizens that the Mayor they gave a pay raise to handles Public Access funds.  "See the man behind the curtain."  They never thought to hold McGlynn's paycheck back until he stops taking advantage of the P/E/G access monies paid for by cable tv subscribers.
_____________________________________________
It goes without saying that the exorbitant $27,000 PLUS that Medford taxpayers are shelling out is a weird and ugly form of usury (the practice of lending money and requiring the borrower to pay a high amount of interest) at its worst.    The councilors lend OUR money to THEMSELVES - hijacking it via eminent domain, and then require we lenders be the borrowers and charge us interest by upping the water/sewer fees, swiping the P/E/G access TV funds, and leaving our crosswalks unpainted, our roads and infrastructure decimated, cracked and dangerous.

Paul Camuso is the biggest offender, the big cheese who put himself in charge via sleight of hand, the Cheeseman of Medford, with a smug smile as he voted to give himself a raise.  SUCH A DEAL!

It's waste, abuse and perhaps borderline fraud at its worst.  It is SELF SERVING at the very least when the paltry votes Camuso garnered were for PUBLIC SERVICE.  But that joker doesn't give a damn about you or me.  Paul Camuso is in it for himself.

City Council The Peabody City Council is an eleven member board elected every two years by the voters. The Council is comprised of six Ward Councilors and five Councilors-at-Large. Each Ward Councilor answers to the needs and problems of the constituents within his or her designated ward area. Councilors-at-Large are responsible for representing the needs of all citizens and businesses in the City.

Each year at the City's Inaugural or midterm Inaugural, the City Council elects a Council President who presides over every meeting. It is the Council President's responsibility to ensure that each meeting is conducted in an orderly fashion, that the Rules and Regulations established by the City Council are followed, and that each agenda is carried through. The Council President and the Mayor work together to ensure that the Legislative and Executive branches of government collaborate to make Peabody a better City in which to live.

This writer has asked Medford citizens to look at cities and towns in surrounding communities to see how they are governed, to see how P/E/G access works.  Voter apathy allows the wolves like Camuso, Caraviello, Dello Russo and Knight to raid the hen house and chomp chomp chomp on our pennies until there is nothing left for the community.  Broken roads, empty storefronts, lies from the lips of the public servants.

Pay increases approved for Mayor, City Councilors and School Commitee

15 Feb By Bob Croce, EOP Publisher
I’ll weigh in during the discussion, but for now I just wanted to get our readership’s  reaction to the Peabody City Council last night voting pay raises for the Mayor,  School Committee members,  and City Councilors.
Here are the basic details.  (You can read more in this article from the Peabody Patch.)
The City Council voted 8-2 to hike the Mayor’s pay from $94,933 per year to $105,000 per year (10% increase). It’s the first mayoral raise in 12 years.

RUMOR IS THAT PEABODY RESCINDED THE PAY RAISE.

WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THAT INFORMATION.

WHEN WE DO YOU WILL READ IT HERE.

Do you know any rogue ex-military?

Sinclair already had pleaded guilty this month to military crimes of having an adulterous affair, asking junior female officers for nude photos and possessing pornography on his laptop while deployed in Afghanistan. Those offenses carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and possible dismissal from the Army.

Council Pay Raise Slippery Slope

 http://medford.patch.com/groups/joe-vigliones-blog/p/what-the-city-council-doesnt-do-for-the-money-of-yours-they-take-for-themselves

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?

269-271 Spring St. Medford in Haines Square is a rickety rocky mess.  And it is also where the local office of State Rep Paul Donato happens to be.  Last night, going to the variety store next to Anthony's Liquors, it was appalling that the road which many Malden and Revere residents traverse is just a fractured mess.  Look at the crosswalks (or the lack thereof) in desperate need of paint.  The yellow line down the middle of Salem Street erased.
_____________________________________________________
And the Medford City Council handed itself a nice, fat pay raise.
_____________________________________________________

What a slippery slope are elected officials are on, including a freshman novice yet to display a solid vote on behalf of those who voted for him - when the Medford City Council immediately vote to give themselves a raise?

(Adam Knight hardly had nine council meetings under his belt, they skipped out on one because of snow!  And he votes himself a raise. Oh that sent a real good message, Adam.  A real good message.  The minute he gets into the council he votes to pay himself more money when he hasn't done a damn thing behind the rail just yet.

In the private sector you don't get a raise until you prove yourself. So what was this raise for?  Being good at running a campaign?  Since when do you get a raise for knowing how to campaign and not knowing how to govern; not knowing how to do the job you are being paid to do!

Remember that one, voters.  We'll remind you come election day!)

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Bell_scandal

The City of Bell scandal is a scandal involving misappropriation of public funds in Bell, California over a period of several years in the late 2000s. In July 2010, two Los Angeles Times reporters, Jeff Gottlieb and Ruben Vives, wrote an investigative journalism article on possible malfeasance in the neighboring city of Maywood, California. In their exposé, they revealed that the city officials of Bell (a small blue collar community) were receiving salaries that were reported as the highest in the nation.[5] Subsequent investigations found atypically high property tax rates, allegations of voter fraud in municipal elections and other irregularities which heightened the ensuing scandal.[6] These and other reports led to widespread criticism and a demand for city officials to resign.[7][8]
In February 2011, six city officials – Mayor Oscar Hernandez, City Council members Teresa Jacobo and George Mirabal, and former council members Luis Artiga, George Cole and Victor Bello–pled not guilty to misappropriating public funds.[9]
_____________________________________________________________

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?

How can Adam Knight and Rick Caraviello, the freshman and the junior councilors - with residents so lacking in simple city services like crosswalks and road infrastructure - justify handing themselves a raise for services not rendered?  In the private sector they would be slapped with an MGL 93a letter for deceptive business practices.  It's a damn shame that - rather than have an independent thought - those puppets did what they were told and get oh so defensive about being called out on the carpet for it.

They seem to forget that they work for us and we didn't give them a raise.  They hijacked the raise.  Just two more immoral politicians swiping a pay raise because they can.

Aberdeen mayor and city council raises not justified [editorial]

May 31, 2013|Editorial from The Record and The AegisWhat's the fair going rate to pay someone who has been elected to public office?
It's an open question, and one that needs to be asked often and, once settled for one generation, asked anew again for the next generation. These days it's being asked in Aberdeen, thanks to a proposal from the city's elected officialsto increase the rates of pay for the offices they hold.

http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2013-05-31/news/ph-re-ag-edit-raises-0531-20130530_1_government-off...
Famously, Ulysses S. Grant, after serving as president in the wake of his decisive role in helping preserve the Union in the Civil War, was far from set for life in his retirement. Struggling against cancer, but encouraged by Mark Twain, he penned his memoirs and secured a publishing deal to ensure those in his family he left behind wouldn't be left wanting.
In the early days of the republic, running for public office to take the responsibilities of government could more easily have been likened to volunteering to cut the grass or take out the garbage. Sure, there's always a level of prestige that goes with holding office, but many of the tasks associated with government aren't popular. Collecting taxes to pay for road repairs isn't glorious work.
A balance needs to be struck.

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?

This Tuesday night I will be asking the 7 City Councilors to rescind the Mayor's unethical, unnecessary and outrageous pay raise, as well as their own.

When this writer had the courage to say "The Mayor doesn't need the raise" one of the councilors - either Camuso or Caraviello - shot back "You don't know that."

Oh, really?  We DO know that.  Mayor McGlynn, with his daughters in the school system, his wife Sheila, his sister Bernadette McGlynn Davis, his brother-in-law Jonathan R. Davis (both on Governors Ave,) his brother Jack, his cousin John Granara, all very fat monetarily from the public sector, are all enjoying the spoils of a paltry victory, a disgraceful amount of votes to get into office for a city this size.  And they take thorough advantage of voter apathy and attempt to besmirch the messenger.

Those who don't listen to history are destined to make the same mistakes.  I'm talking about the voters, not the slimy politicians who abuse their positions to help themselves, not the city they are supposed to be fixing.

How Detroit went broke

Detroit is broke, but it didn’t have to be. An in-depth Free Press analysis of the city’s financial history back to the 1950s shows that its elected officials and others charged with managing its finances repeatedly failed — or refused — to make the tough economic and political decisions that might have saved the city from financial ruin.
Instead, amid a huge exodus of residents, plummeting tax revenues and skyrocketing home abandonment, Detroit’s leaders engaged in a billion-dollar borrowing binge, created new taxes and failed to cut expenses when they needed to. Simultaneously, they gifted workers and retirees with generous bonuses. And under pressure from unions and, sometimes, arbitrators, they failed to cut health care benefits — saddling the city with staggering costs that today threaten the safety and quality of life of people who live here.

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?

Voters needs to write letters and come up to the Council and give a piece of their mind to these jokers.  But the residents appear to be afraid of retaliation.

WHAT DOES PUBLIC SERVICE MEAN FOR THOSE GETTING PAID TO DO IT?

Adam Knight, Rick Caraviello, Paul A. Camuso and especially fat-wallet Freedy, Fred Dello Russo Jr., are behaving more like Frank Pilleri, Harvey Alberg, Ronald Delucia and Arthur Deluca, writing out "expensive Christmas bonuses" for themselves as Deluca told Johnny Byers, "for doing a good job."  The good job was at taking advantage of the residents they had an obligation to serve.

No wonder Camuso, who gorged on access TV like some hungry little swine, kept the City Solicitor and Stephanie Burke from bringing up the tv 3 issue. Camuso runs the City Council the way Frank Pilleri ran a non-profit.  Into the ground.

What a slippery slope elected officials are on, including a freshman novice yet to display a solid vote on behalf of those who voted for him - when the Medford City Council immediately voted to give themselves a raise that was not based in services performed, but in pure gluttony.

There's One In Every City! TWO FRAUD BOARD MEMBERS GO NUTS ON PATCH

162,690

Better to join a town tv station sometimes, there are crackpots infiltrating the non-profit boards in some cities!

From my personal blog:

Sheesh! She's still talking about herself and what a great job she thinks she does, like Arthur Deluca, not getting a pat on the back they desperately desire, so they give it to themselves!

Isn't it amazing when some of us do the hard work to generate good programming that there are those who are unable to facilitate public access for everyone else? Those are the individuals who took "generous Christmas bonuses" - to quote Arthur DeLuca - and gave you color bars instead of your right to Free Expression. When they scribble on Patch their nonsensical buffoonery it is a defense mechanism because they bruised their inflated self image reading that someone else does a good job helping out the community. In't it amazing that suddenly, out of nowhere, lazy egotistical board members from Medford to Malden criticize out of sheer jealousy (statement, not a question.) Just because they don't know how to pick up a camera to find a kitty or doggy a new place to live, a home with a loving family, or sacrifice their time to help someone else out! Just because their capacity for kindness is absent, residents are forced to see some wild-eyed psychopath with a dumb wig irritate the masses to stroke his own ego before a public domain movie, or some slovenly woman who takes up about 3/4's of the screen (when she can get off of her extended derrière to do something!) because she can't fit through Jenny Craig's door and her ego is more important than the community! Their egos are so inflated that they forgot being on a board of directors of a non-profit means opening the doors to the community, not to the board member that wants to control the conversation. They just don't get it. The guests - and the viewers - suffer when selfish individuals mandated to facilitate other people's shows throw rocks at the community that they are supposed to serve. At a TV station we visited yesterday there are strict rules that board members have to obey.  Going "off the reservation" and breaking rules indicates a sickness.   Access TV boards have always been a magnet for some twisted individuals who like to bully people; individuals with no decorum, with irrefutable evidence that they enjoy being insubordinate because "causing trouble" is not only their motto: it is their illness.  Sadly, on Patch, rogue board members who have a primary vision of helping themselves (you've seen 'em, the pushy lady going up to the table at the Christmas party at a station and eating all the ice cream for herself or himself, ignorant of the fact that there are members, including special needs people, who deserve that ice cream more than she or he!) or a public domain host allegedly going to the home of the faux president to grab the best camera that they don't allow the members to use ...they keep it for the board members only! Shameful. Not to mention the fact that the president of the station got caught selling a camera TO the station, probably/allegedly having purchased it with your money in the first place, a documented fact inside a report from City Hall) - the board members screaming the loudest and making noise are guilty of something. Confession - so good for the soul -  would be a lot more helpful to those two sad examples, but they have not the  ability or power to do, experience, or understand something: that they are in dire need to get some (mental) help before they continue to hurt other people in that position they grabbed.  Their Patch scribblings are beyond a cry for help, those board members are giving the community prima facie evidence as to why the State Hospital needs to open up another couple of rooms.

P.S. it's not very ladylike (and perhaps "lady" was the wrong word)  to criticize the way Senator Pat Jehlen conducts an interview, but some rogue board member from out of town did just that. Shameful. Is it because Pat does such a great job interviewing members of the community?

A FRESH START MEANS BYE BYE TO THE OLD CRONIES, THAT MEANS YOU STEVEN BERTORELLI

162,622 ALL-TIME HITS!

PETER FINCH!
But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
http://galactic-light-activators.blogspot.com/2011/10/im-as-mad-as-hell-and-im-not-going-to.html

MCC TV3 has shut down!  We, the citizens who fought this good fight, had to explain to the Steve Bertorelli types, the Carl Galusi individuals, the Paul Gerety types, that it wasn't all about them.  They thought it was THEIR channel, not our channel.  When did you ever see Steve Bertorelli go up to the City Council and fight for the rights of other citizens?

While we did the heavy lifting, Mr. Bertorelli and Mr. Galusi just kept doing their show, denigrating those of us who actually helped other citizens get on access TV, taking advantage of the "fiasco" (thank you, Adam, great word!) for themselves and nobody else.

Bertorelli showed up at RCTV today dressed like a hobo.  It was disgraceful.  While the rest of the Medford crew took time to get nicely dressed, bring business cards, behave professionally, the old remnant of the old regime looked like he didn't give a damn about the image he projected.    Didn't City Hall tell us we could have a "fresh start?"

Remember when
Katherine Ann Power was behind the wheel of one of the two getaway vehicles when Boston  police officer Walter Schroeder was shot and killed. Power remained at large for 23 years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katherine_Ann_Power

Just because Power didn't pull the trigger didn't mean she wasn't guilty.  The Cable TV Committee can't just "absolve" some of the individuals who engaged in censorship., Ever try calling the "Ziggy Bush Show" hosted by Carl Galusi and produced by Bertorelli?  They censored people. There was no free speech whatsoever and Bertorelli and Galusi never fought for the residents that were not allowed to have their say.  Betorelli was the Katherine Ann Power driving the getaway car while Galusi and Gerety were board members who served themselves, not the public.  Do we really need the temperamental individuals who wrecked access TV to come crawling back out and trying to sabotage it before we even get it off of the ground?

Having Mr. Bertorelli show up looking like a slob, not ready for prime time, did a great injustice to the building of the new Medford TV station. Bertorelli adds nothing to the conversation, is in it for himself - not others - and has not fought for YOUR right to be on television as many of us have.

The insiders club is over, and those disgraced insiders of the old "fiasco" are not welcome at our new station.  We have to start with a clean slate, and the grumpy Bertorelli, Galusi and Gerety will only scare away the community that has flocked to Winchester and other stations to produce TV and be on TV without being haunted by the ghosts of Christmas past.

FRANK PILLERI'S OUTRAGEOUS COMMENT: 'IF WE COOPERATE - ALL THIS GOES AWAY!

Community accessDeLuca, who currently sits on the embattled community access station TV3’s Board of Directors, said if he is elected mayor, he will eliminate funding for public, education and governmental (PEG) access stations and instead steer those dollars to the city’s general budget. - See more at: http://www.wickedlocal.com/x1803293478/ELECTION-2013-Arthur-DeLuca-bills-himself-as-second-best-choi...

So the weekly paper noted Deluca was STILL on the board though ending up also on the front page proclaiming he was engaged in politics, prohibited by the Internal Revenue Code.

And if the IRS fine is more money than is left in the corporation, the dissolution court COULD order us to sell off enough of our equipment (SINCE THE CITY CO-OWNS THE EQUIPMENT, ARTHUR DELUCA IS DECLARING HE WILL COMMIT A CRIME, CONVERTING THE EQUIPMENT - STEALING THE PEOPLE'S EQUIPMENT - TO PAY A FINE IF HE IS CAUGHT) to raise the funds to pay the fine."

Dear Mr. Lincoln:

While the city of Los Angeles, California is screening local television on the Metro bus system
http://out-the-window.org/bus-screenings-june-13-19-launch-mobile-community-tv-network/

We in Medford want to help the Brooks Estate by working with yours and other groups to ask City Hall to give us the funding for a Television Bus, a temporary home for the new Channel 3.

A temporary bus can pull up to the Chevalier Theater, the Field of Dreams or the Brooks Estate and tape new shows which allow a variety of voices to discuss local events.

A temporary "Channel 3" on a bus would be a perfect complement to the new station, wherever we choose to build our new public access station.

In the coming days letters will be written to the arts community, to notable Medford residents, to people in the world of access TV to get the word out.

SOME IMPORTANT DATES

April 15, 2015 is 13 months from this Saturday.  That's ostensibly when the City of Medford's agreement with Comcast ends.  It is vitally important that Mayor McGlynn put a Cable TV Commission together - separate from the three-person Cable Access TV Committee - to explore how to grandfather access television in to the new agreement, and to sign a new agreement sooner than later.

http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?year=2015&month=04&hour=09&min=00&sec=00&p0=43&msg=Medf...

On April 1, 2014 it will be a year since color bars went up on Channel 3, and a blank screen on the Medford access channel on Verizon. So for a year cable TV subscribers have been paying into a system and getting nothing for their dollar.

On Tuesday evening, March 18, 2014, this writer will roll out a new plan for access television in Medford.

This can be of great benefit to the Brooks Estate in your quest for funding, sponsorship and outreach.  Having a public access station to get the word out about your non-profit group is just one reason why the new TV station needs the support of those involved in the Brooks Estate.

GREEDY CITY COUNCILS - New Bedford and Medford!

162,500 EXACTLY @ 11:36 am

http://medford.patch.com/groups/joe-vigliones-blog/p/greedy-new-bedford-city-councilors-keep-their-outrageous-pay-hike

On Tuesday night this Medford resident will be speaking on my petition to have the Medford City Council rescind its outrageous vote for a pay hike.   I'm also planning to give an outline for an expedited roll-out of a new Channel 3.

Last night the New Bedford City Council behaved as expected...badly.
Check this out to see greed at work:

NEW BEDFORD — The City Council voted 9-2 Thursday night to kill a motion that would have been a step toward rescinding a 44 percent pay raise the council voted itself in 2012.
The councilors voted not to send the motion to the Finance Committee, effectively leaving it dead on arrival.

JV Point #1.  ON March 4th, when it was noted e to the Council that the Mayor does not need a pay raise, one of the councilors had the audacity to say "You don't know that."

Do NOT insult the intelligence of the people footing the bill.  Unlike Paul Camuso's good pal, not every resident is on food stamps, SSI and filing papers that he's indigent for an attorney, as with Mike McGlynn's good friend arrested and indicted by a grand jury for a false bomb threat.    Mike McGlynn praised that individual during a taxpayer-funded school committee meeting.  Shame on Mike.

The rest of us either pay rent or own homes in Medford, and that funds the city council's ridiculously high paycheck.

At $3700 PLUS per council meeting and having NO MEETING for 3 inches of snow, it is an absolute travesty when a paltry number of voters put in four individuals who put their own lust for cash ahead of the needs of this community.

Let's be more specific.  Didn't PauL Camuso say in 2011 that he wanted his pay raise to "give it to charity."  Hey, Mr. Camuso, charity starts at home: give the money BACK to the people struggling in this economy because, unlike your good friend that was on a non-profit board and violated the Internal Revenue Code to put YOU, Paul Camuso, on TV on a Friday night while harassing everyone else, unlike your pal, Mr. Camuso, some people have never taken food stamps or a free lawyer.

Those of us who are footing the bill have a First Amendment right to complain.  The Food Stamp/Free Lawyer fellow, Paul Camuso's friend, liked to talk a good game, but lacked the integrity to back it up.

LET's GO BACK TO NEW BEDFORD AND SEE WHAT HAPPENED:
The meeting was tense at times after Ward 4 Councilor Dana Rebeiro and Councilor-at-large Naomi Carney proposed rescinding the raise — something Rebeiro had vowed to do during her 2013 campaign. She and Carney were the only ones voting to send it to committee.
Rebeiro said in introducing the motion that New Bedford has "one of the highest if not the highest unemployment rates in the entire state" at 11 percent. She said the councilors work hard and she did not necessarily disagree with a pay raise, but that the raise should be "based more equitably" on how long the councilors have been there.
Councilor-at-large Brian Gomes spoke passionately against the motion and said the pay raise was a non-issue, and that the motion "doesn't belong on the agenda."

It is called BLOOD FROM A STONE.

The citizens of Medford work hard for every dollar.  Yes, some of the potholes on Garfield Ave have finally been filled, but does every citizen with the Grand Canyon in front of their home have to come up to this city council to get the job done?

A Pay Raise?  Yet the council will sometimes pass the buck to the Mayor when it comes to things the council doesn't want to handle, like access TV.

They pass the buck to the Mayor, and in return, the Mayor wants them to pass lots of bucks to the Mayor.

If you love handing your hard-earned money over to City Hall so that Rick Caraviello and Adam Knight allegedly make their council job a huge part of their income rather than serving the public without wanting money in return, then don't read the rest of this.  If you think Freddy Dello Russo's hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in the private sector (what does that dude make?  Half a million dollars on people's grief?) along with Paul Camuso's 70K at the Sheriff's office deserve another 30K of our hard-earned cash, well, you must be made out of money.

Just give it away.

Perhaps Mark Crowley, Jeanne Martin, Neil Osborne and Bob Fitzpatrick should join the city council and replace Camuso, Dello Russo, McGknight-0 and Caraviello, because if your name ends in "o" you are Santa Claus for Michael J. McGlynn handing him a nice fat pay raise that he absolutely doesn't need, money from the citizens that the citizens DO need.

Blood from a stone.  Watch the board member of TV3 who is on SSI (the regular Patch comment troublemaker) complain about this under his aliases.    He can afford to, because he's on SSI and decided to be a "write-in candidate" for Mayor.  Why not?  The Mayor's on SSI as well, Selfish, Sick, Ignominy.  That's what McGlynn's fraudulent pay raise is.
His own personal SSI granted by the fat cat City Councilors.

Citizens need to storm the castle and demand the Councilors rescind the Pay Raise.

Each councilor should get $15,000.00

Mayor McGlynn  $75,000.00

That would show honesty and integrity.

Hey, Paul Camuso?  You still going to give your "raise" to charity? Or was that just a line?

Rescind the Pay Raise.  Show up at City Hall and tell the council they did a very bad thing in calling it a "rule of necessity" to pay themselves more of our money without any oversight whatsoever.

Watch the rock throwing begin because - once again - this writer is putting a spotlight on city officials who should know better.  Or is it "NO" better?

Letter To Mr. Ed

Hello Ed,

I'll be over to your office today to file a petition to demand the City Council do as New Bedford has done to RESCIND THE PAY RAISE vote.

Camuso's gluttony is beyond the pale.

Thank you Inside Medford for the 2013 VOTE information that I utilized in the article, and the Medford Transcript's story on the pay raises.   Vote yourself a payraise...what?  Does Mr. Camuso think he's the president of the old TV3 or something?  (Camuso slams gavel down as legitimate comparison is made to show his gluttony!)

Warm Regards,
Charter Change Committee

http://medford.patch.com/groups/joe-vigliones-blog/p/city-council-seeks-to-rescind-pay-raise-new-bedford-city-council-that-is

What does New Bedford and Medford have in common, other than the sort-of rhyme to their names?

How about a City Council voting for pay raises and Housing Authority mayhem.

If you think the two don't go hand-in-hand, think again.

I'm filing to demand the City Council RESCIND the Pay Raise, and will be asking they put those monies to the building of a new TV station as I also roll out a road map for building the new Channel 3.

 NEW BEDFORD MOTION:

10. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Rebeiro and Carney, requesting that the City Council, rescind the 44% pay raise, until such time as the Council can review a more suitable adjustment that is more reflective of the City’s current financial standing. (To be Referred to the Committee on Finance.)
The Medford Transcript writes:

Marks and Penta asked fellow councilors several times to vote against the raises for themselves and McGlynn."It’s not that I don’t think we deserve a pay raise. I just don’t think we should accept one — that’s my opinion," Marks said. "It’s a symbolic gesture, but it means a lot that we’re willing to forego our pay raise because we know that there are other things that need to be accomplished in our community."The council president will earn $32,550 after the last raise increment in 2016, and the vice president will make $30,640. The salary for all other councilors will be $29,360.

Councillors Rebeiro and Carney To File Motion to Rescind 44% Pay Raise

March 11, 2014 Politics 0

On Thursday, March 13th, 2014,  New Bedford City Councillors Dan Rebeiro and Naomi Andrews-Carney will officially file a written motion the rescind the 44% pay raise city councilors voted for in 2012.  Here is the exact wording:
WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Rebeiro and Carney, requesting that the City Council, rescind the 44% pay raise, until such time as the Council can review a more suitable adjustment that is more reflective of the City’s current financial standing. (To be Referred to the Committee on Finance.)

LOOK AT HOW FEW VOTES IT TOOK, MEDFORD, FOR FOUR SELFISH INDIVIDUALS TO DO A MONEY GRAB, SHAME ON THE VOTER APATHY IN THIS CITY

Paul Camuso 4,563 (10.59%)*
Frederick Dello Russo, Jr. 4,128 (9.58%)*
Rick Caraviello 4,018 (9.33%)*
Adam Knight 3,732 (8.66%)*
http://insidemedford.com/2013/11/06/municipal-election-unofficial-results/

Who would have thought that the paltry number of votes would lead to such a travesty and waste of city funds?

Well, I did.  This writer was up at the City Council week after week begging the voters to go to the polls.  Don't blame me.

We are working on Charter Change with a meeting scheduled at a place already designated in Medford Square in early April.  Stay tuned for more details.  There are many of us on the Charter Change committee already.  The public is invited to join in on this very serious matter, which has been quietly in the planning stages for quite some time.  More details in the very near future.  Keep watching the City Council as we roll out the Charter Change Committee.
