Shawn Norton, a 16-year veteran, was released on $100 after pleading not guilty Thursday.

Authorities say the 43-year-old Norton was arrested just after 11 p.m. Wednesday after Reading police received a report that a vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run in Wilmington.

Officers spotted a vehicle with heavy front-end damage, but when they tried to stop it, the driver ignored emergency lights and made several turns before stopping in a school parking lot.

Medford officials say that 20 of the city’s police officers have been suspended without pay, and seven more have been reprimanded, after an investigation into violations of the department’s detail policy.

“I’m dismayed and disappointed with the actions of some members of the Medford Police Department,” Medford Mayor Stephanie Burke said in a statement Thursday.

The disciplinary action comes after the city launched an investigation in June into alleged violations of the detail policy last year at a construction project in Medford. The city’s police chief, Jack Buckley, told reporters Thursday that a number of officers were paid more than they were owed, according to CBS Boston. Some officers reportedly accepted excess payments, which totaled $17,000, of up to $2,000.

On Wednesday, June 1st, Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies will be hosting a private event at the Charlotte & William Bloomberg Medford Public Library beginning at 10am. To accommodate the event outside of the library, High St. between Governor’s Ave and Winthrop Circle will be closed to through traffic from 9am to noon. Residents and school traffic will be able to access High St. from Winthrop Circle to Boynton Rd., and from Medford Sq. to Governor’s Ave. No vehicle traffic will be allowed between Boynton Rd. and Governor’s Ave. If you are a resident of the area and need to enter or exit during the closure, Medford Police will be stationed at the road closure locations to assist you.

Parking will be restricted between Boynton Rd. and Governor’s Ave. until 12pm on June 1st. In addition, the municipal parking lot across from 101 Riverside Ave. will be unavailable for parking until approximately 1pm. There will be several parking spaces reserved for residents who visit the Medford Senior Center.

The Governor’s Ave. lot will remain accessible and open for public parking on June 1st.

Between 10:30am and 11:30am, the event will include some music and speeches that will use amplified speakers outside of the library. 

Roads will reopen at the end of event, at approximately noon.

The reporter works for a New Hampshire media outlet, and the harassment and terrorizing started in the Granite State at three homes connected in some way to her in the towns of Concord, Hampstead and Hanover. All were hit by bricks, and obscenities were spray-painted in red.

Those are her former residence, the home of her editor and the home of her parents. In fact, her parents’ house was hit again just nine hours or so before her own home was hit in Melrose, according to Middlesex County DA Marian Ryan.

Ryan and her investigators are reading the reporter’s recent work to see if a motive for the harassment can be found.

 This is an Al Pacino film I haven't seen yet. Added to the watchlist! I can't tell the difference between an open-air drug market or gay men cruising. To the outside they look the same: Cars idling in a parking lot and no-one moving, people lurking in shadows just slightly off in the distance, people watching you from a distance and not moving.
