Medford Health Department Resources & Reminders

We’ve compiled some important resources from U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Mass. Department of Public Health to
help keep you and your loved ones safe this holiday season!

Safe(r) Thanksgiving Celebrations

Flu Vaccines: Protect yourself and others!

  • Reduces risk of hospitalization & strain on the healthcare system, especially during COVID-19.
  • Reduces doctor’s visits + absence from school or work.
  • REQUIRED by 12/31/20 for all Mass. Students (unless by exemption).
  • Need more information? See Vaccine Effectiveness: How Well Do the Flu Vaccines Work? - Centers of Disease Control

One key difference between Flu and COVID-19 is that there are vaccines to prevent the flu.

Travel Regulations

  • Complete the MA Travel Form prior to arrival (unless from a lower-risk state).
  • Quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative COVID-19 test result administered
up to 72-hours prior to arrival in Massachusetts.
  • Need more information? See Massachusetts COVID-19 Travel Order.

COVID-19 Testing: did you know?

  • Testing is fully covered, $0 cost to you, by all insurance plans in Massachusetts, including Medicare and Medicaid if it is deemed medically necessary.
  • If you live in MA you can visit a Stop the Spread site for free, regardless of if you have symptoms.
  • Home testing is not recommended and may not be used for returning to work or school. You can also be tested at: Cambridge Health Alliance, and Physician One Urgent Care. Medford residents must register for an appointment.
