They were dubbed "SICK" by the City Council of Medford

PATCH EDITOR commented on the article "Medford Public Access Corp" you commented on in The Socio-Political History of Medford:
Arthur
... you are entirely wrong regarding the
cable bills and
what they pay
for.
Wait, let me state that differently.
You are being disingenuous.
Where exactly do
you think the cable companies get the money
that they
provide in "grants" to
the towns that pay for equipment and public
access?
From
cable subscription fees almost exclusively.
Thats like saying
people pay federal taxes but people arent
paying for
the federal
grants awarded to schools.

Re: Mr Opposition Leader's comment of
"but I respectfully tell you that once Medford sees the fun we are
having at other stations, Medford will understand why access is an
important part of community life; one that was denied us by the old
regime."
We already know why access is an important part of community life,
using TV3, members got Plan E ousted in favor of Plan A, stopped a
methadone clinic from opening in Medford, and enabled the High School
students to win the Making A Difference Award, in which documantation
was provided proving that a show on TV3 Medford changed the quality of
life for someone in Medford for the better - this is the highest honor
an public access station can win. It is one award against ALL funding
levels of public access. All this was provided because the board of
directors had the courage and power to stand up to Bob Penta and his
rigid-minded cronies of the old City Council. Our hard work opened the
door and paved the way for all that will follow. Whatever the future may
bring, none of it could have happened without what we have done to
date. WE now leave it to these "armchair quarterbacks" to show us what
they can do besides interview celebrities on a publicity junket,
promoting their latest commercial making endeavors

Well said, Arthur
As I recall, a certain someone was critical of that project because it
showed violence. Of course, he neglected to mention that the Medford
Police Department both supported this great endeavor, but participated
in it.
EDITOR RESPONDS:
Thank you, William Gilman. While "campaigning" Mr. Deluca told the Medford Transcript that he wants to put all the monies for P/E/G into the "general fund." However, Mr. Deluca is not part of the Mayor's Cable TV Commission, which would enable him to make such a suggestion. Instead, Art is on a "board of directors" whose mandate is to facilitate access tv, not throw it in the circular file and hand the money over to the city. Harvey and Arthur are in agreement, yet both of them have enjoyed the benefits of those monies while dozens of ex-members and about a dozen or so ex-board members (more ex-board members than current members) are outraged by the self-serving "disingenuous" philosophy of a station the weekly newspaper has a not-so-new name for - the "embattled Medford Community Cablevision, Inc." The Transcript has used "embattled" to describe the station since about 2007. Given the current investigation over alleged racism, the ex-board member with a date in court tomorrow and the information on my telephone from government oversight telling me that MCC is NOT in "compliance" with the dissolution process. it seems pretty clear that "disingenuous" is the politest way of saying "Houston, there's a problem." On December 4th Harvey Alberg, a member of the board, wrote on Patch "Joe is now "The City." He apparently knows more about this shutdown process than does the Mayor, The Solicitor, and the Mass Supreme Court. Believe me, it is a long tedious process to put together everything that is needed to dissolve this Corporation." Let me clarify: It is clear to me that my public records requests are giving the Mayor, the Solicitor and the Mass. Supreme Court more information than it would have in this process. Would the Mayor, the Solicitor and the court even know TV3 is currently "technically not in compliance" as government oversight noted in a phone call to me, on my answering service, to be saved just in case. The president of TV 3 stated publicly "We feel that every taxpayer and Comcast rate payer have a right to know this information, ...” Now is their big opportunity to show the taxpayers and Comcast (and Verizon) subscribers "this information." We are waiting!
