There are 96 shopping days till Christmas, 2013, December 25 for the  uninformed  - http://www.xmasclock.com/

And 46 days to Election 2013 on November 5

So with precious time running out what does the weekly paper do?  With only six and a half weeks left, only six editions left to print before this important cycle concludes, the weekly paper has a political joke splashed across the bottom part of the front page.

The failure to be serious is a twisted joke allegedly perpetrated by City Hall on the residents by virtue of City Hall's relationship to the $2.00 a week publication which makes the Midnight Globe that you find in the supermarket checkout line look far more credible than it is.

State Rep Paul Camuso says that political speech is "the most protected right" (and he said it in the pages of that weekly newspaper), so the editors of Patch should give us some latitude here to inform the voters:

The individual on the front page of the weekly paper doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected.  Allegedly he couldn't even obtain 50 signatures.  Scrutinizing a political candidate is essential as those individuals potentially have control of all the funds, control over the legislators, can have an incredible - and sometimes hugely detrimental impact - on lives of the residents of any community.

Just because someone knows how to campaign doesn't mean they necessarily know how to lead.   Paul A. Camuso has run very good campaigns, yet the weekly paper says Camuso has the worst attendance record and, when he is at the City Council, as this writer has reported, Camuso is often seen getting up and speaking to members of the audience or people who have spoken at the podium, getting a direct word to them without giving the citizens the opportunity to hear that "elected official's" thoughts on camera.    Why cut coupons for fifty cents at Stop & Shop when you are handing over $27,000.00 a year to someone not doing their job fully?  Penny wise and pound foolish is the old saying.

   WRITE IN CANDIDATE ARTHUR DELUCA

Arthur Alan Deluca is allegedly on the board of directors of the embattled non-profit, Medford Community Cablevision, Inc.  If DeLuca is making himself a public figure on the front page of the weekly newspaper, a candidate for the highest office in Medford, then he should be held to the highest scrutiny.

Here are some choice facts about the candidate who wants to be your Mayor.

1)Deluca dragged an 82 year old man into Somerville District Court on what I firmly believe were lies.  Carl Galusi, former VP of Medford Community Cablevision, Inc., pulled me aside at Market Basket, shook his head, and said they spent "thousands and thousands" of dollars persecuting his old friend.    I witnessed what went on because I went to the courthouse with the 82 year old man as moral support.  What the "Write-in Mayoral Candidate" did to a senior citizen was disgusting, downright horrible.  Do the senior citizens of Medford want that kind of person that would do that to another human being without mediation, with a playing field not level (using cable TV subscriber monies to drag a senior citizen into court is the creation of an unlevel playing field), and it was all meant to keep a show called "Golden Memories" off of the public access channel.  The court action by the "Mayoral Candidate" was actually a pure violation of the Agreement with city hall to "facilitate programming."

2)As a board member of TV3 Deluca is happy to allegedly get a free bus pass from the TV station, allegedly has a "membership for life" and doesn't pay, has use of the computers, use of cameras, use of airtime, all things that belong to other citizens.  Deluca selfishly uses the resources of the community access station for himself.  Mark Rumley's report of February 10, 2008 noted that Deluca, Steve Marra and Gary Zappelli, all board members, received cable TV subscriber funds as pay.
The big question is: where are the meeting minutes telling us if Deluca voted for his own paycheck.

IF there are no meeting minutes to MCC TV3 available to the public, the Mayoral candidate, clearly, has a problem keeping good books.  Yet he wants to be your Mayor.  You've got to be joking?  The weekly paper is certainly joking, and laughing at its readers, not with them.

3)The Character Issue:   Gary Zappelli and Arthur Deluca received monies from TV3 while both sitting on the board of TV3.  Gary Zappelli, according to the Patch, was arrested on September 4, 2013 allegedly for "false bomb threats."    So two colleagues that work in concert with each other both have character issues and one was arrested.

Arthur Deluca's character is a big issue.  What he did to the host of Golden Memories is something that needs to be discussed in a public forum if Deluca wants to lead the city.  The candidate for Mayor has a documented mean streak (which I personally experienced when I was on deadline for a paying writing job and Deluca demanded I drive him home; he wouldn't pay for a taxi, he didn't offer me fuel money; he demanded a ride home and refused to let my car leave the driveway of 40 Canal Street until he got his free taxi ride; Deluca also reportedly pulled this stunt on the 82 year old man he later dragged into court.  This "Mayoral Candidate" is  vicious when it comes to senior citizens.  He has treated me with such disrespect and used the TV station to bully me, repeatedly, that the thought of Deluca running for public office makes this writer, and some of my friends and colleagues, cringe.

4)If you criticize Deluca, he will go on a rampage spreading lies about you.  He has participated in the use of the TV station to spread his lies, along with the board of directors.  Shows like "Spotlight On City Hall" or Zappelli's "Fun and Games and City Hall" (ridiculing the 82 year old man, an autistic man and this writer), The Chumley Report (a devastating lie-fest aimed at City Solicitor Mark Rumley) are not the facilitation of access tv.

A candidate has to run on his record.  Arthur Deluca's record is that of a board member of a non-profit that doesn't keep books (according to Judge Jackson-Thompson), that failed to give a proper accounting to taxpayer funded auditors, and who have engaged in bullying at the City Council of Medford documented in police reports and on the Government Channel.

Mayor McGlynn - as the Issuing Authority - has a responsibility to address his opponent, Arthur Alan Deluca.  He won't.  Mayor McGlynn, the 26 year incumbent, benefits from his decoy, Art Deluca, thrusting himself into the Mayoral race in an attempt to drain votes from Anthony D'Antonio,  the real opponent with real signatures and a good track record of campaigning in 2011.

Arthur Deluca is Mayor McGlynn's decoy.  McGlynn has used the P/E/G monies liberally for his "gneral fund" and no one can seem to get a handle on how the Governmental monies and Educational monies are spent, other than the fact that three high school teachers are paid with the Governmental monies.    So McGlynn needs to have Deluca in his camp.  McGlynn doesn't pull the plug on TV3 even though Mayoral Candidate Deluca and his colleagues on the board have taken the station off the air; Deluca has PUBLICLY - on Patch - claimed we don't need access tv, and one of the main members of TV3, its former board member and current webmaster, is under arrest.  These are the facts.

The best way to remove Arthur DeLuca is to remove his Issuing Authority from office.  Vote for Anthony D'Antonio and you won't see this kind of political posturing, these McGlynn theatrics, interfering in the process.
