Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:

City Councilor Michael Marks gave a respectful and eloquent acknowledgment of the job that the McGlynn Administration did with the impressive Peace Garden.  For a critic of the McGlynn Administration to compliment the project honestly was touching and showed respect for the victims, respect for their families, respect for our community.

Suddenly, there was a "Point of Information" from Adam Knight to interject so that he could grab some glory from the project.  It was horrific.  Knight insisted on patting himself on the back for his vote, exploiting grief for his own political gain.

If the Transcript cares to look at all of the Motions, Orders and Resolutions that Knight has put forth since his joining the council you will find a majority of them are not in the discussion of improving Medford, or working on behalf of the citizens.  Knight's plan was always to congratulate
people or offer condolences so that he could accrue potential votes. His acrimonious attacks on fellow councilors substantiate that he is nothing more than a disingenuous publicity hound willing to exploit a tragedy for his own personal, political gain..

Congratulations and condolences IN ADDITION TO work for the community would be acceptable, but Knight opted to just praise his friends and other citizens over the past two years in what appears to have been a calculated scheme to seek votes: campaigning for two years rather than doing the hard work the council seat demands.

The rookie councilor, Knight, within three months of being elected, while not displaying anything of significance other than doing McGlynn's bidding, voted for his own pay raise.

Medford cannot afford an expensive charlatan with ulterior motives backed by Local 25, a union paying Knight $500.00 while 5 members of that union were recently indicted for threats which included violence against women.

When he praised himself for the Peace Garden at the Council on October 20, 2015, Mr. Knight didn't think about the collective grief of the community, the families who lost loved ones or displaying any respect for the victims.  Oh no, Adam Knight wanted the city to know that HE voted for the Peace Garden, and he wanted to use the Peace Garden for political gain two weeks before an election..

Adam Knight owes the citizens of Medford a deep apology.  Then he needs to resign from campaigning for elected office.  The fact that he selfishly voted for his own pay raise, and selfishly used a somber moment to praise himself, pat himself on the back, means that you shouldn't hold your breath waiting for that sense of conscience; that resignation or that apology.

Sincerely,

Joe Viglione
