BEWARE MEDFORD: FIRST MEDFORD COUNCIL MEETING OF THE YEAR NICOLE MORELL , ZAC BEARS, RICK CARAVIELLO AND THEIR FOUR OTHER ZUCCHINI BRAINS VIOLATED THE OATH OF OFFICE IMMEDIATELY UPON TAKING IT, REFUSING TO LET ME SPEAK ABOUT THE PROPOSED PAY RAISE RUMOR https://medfordinformationcentral.blogspot.com/2022/10/beware-medford-boston-city-councilors.html .....LOOK AT WHAT THE BOSTON CITY COUNCIL JUST DID. I NO LONGER LIVE IN MEDFORD. I LIVED IN MALDEN AND RICK CARAVIELLO REFUSED TO LET ME SPEAK BECAUSE I LIVED IN MALDEN, EVEN THOUGH HE WOULD TAKE A CALL FROM HAWAII IF HE FELT LIKE IT. THEY ARE OVERPAID, AND I'VE BEEN WARNING YOU! Boston city councilors vote to give themselves 20% pay hike — $10,000 more than originally proposed

Boston city councilors voted to bump their pay by $10,000 more than the proposed hike, jumping their yearly hauls by $21,500, or more than 20% — raising eyebrows alongside the dough as one union head called it a “slap in the face.”

This will go into effect to start 2024, after next year’s council elections — that’s when they’ll begin to make $125,000 a year as opposed to the $103,500 they make now.

This is $10,000 more than the raise to $115,000 that had been on the table in a proposal from the mayor.

The approved change also hikes the mayoral pay by double that, as per statute, so whoever’s elected mayor of Boston in 2025 will start their term with an annual salary of $250,000, rather than the $207,000 that Mayor Michelle Wu’s making now.

The councilors on Wednesday voted for these changes unanimously, 13-0 in a roll-call vote.

If they hadn’t acted on this in Wednesday’s meeting, Wu’s original proposal would have hit its 60-day threshold and gone into effect as proposed. The council also approved as originally proposed raises to administration high-ups including the police and fire commissioners following a study that recommended hikes.

Wu’s office said she “looks forward to reviewing the amended ordinance approved by the Council in the coming days.”
