I showed up to do the job I took an oath to this morning. I am disappointed to see that some of my fellow councilors did not feel the duty to the public, department heads, or their fellow councilors to do the same. As we did not reach quorum, today’s budget hearings have been postponed to a later date TBD.
Thank you to the numerous residents and staff who took the time to show up and special thanks to the city staff who spent countless hours preparing the budget in this truly challenging cycle.
The budget book and schedule for budget hearings are now live. We are experiencing a dramatic shortfall this year due to revenue losses related to the coronavirus pandemic. Please come out to hear from departments and advocate and ask questions. How a community spends its money reflects their priorities—and we want to hear from you.
