Georgiana Chevry Running For Medford City Council

Chevry, vice chair of the Medford Housing Authority, says the City Council needs the perspective of "diversity, inclusion and equity."

"I see myself reflected in and connected to so many immigrant communities In Medford – the African- American, Haitian, Caribbean, Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, Latin American, Middle Eastern. Georgiana also feels a connection to the Italian community because in the 1940's and 50's her grandfather worked in the Italian Embassy in Haiti. "I feel connected with all of these communities because we have all experienced being Immigrants. We need to remember that Medford is an immigrant city. The people of Medford, all of the people, have so much to offer that needs to be shared around the City Council table, but we lack their representation. In order to ensure a sustainable future, we need to access all of the talent, knowledge and resources present in our city. That is what I will bring to the table."

MEDFORD, MA — Georgiana Chevry is running for Medford City Council in November.

Chevry, 42, is Haitian American and was born and raised in Medford. If elected, she would be the first city councilor of color.
