Bradshaw St., Burbank Rd., Golden Ave. (portion), Logan Ave., Stearns Ave., and Tontine St. selected from nominated streets citywide.
Six Medford streets have been selected for the City’s 2021 Residential Shared Streets program. From a list of streets citywide nominated by residents, City staff selected Bradshaw Street. Burbank Road, Golden Avenue (from Willis to Main), Logan Avenue, Stearns Avenue, and Tontine Street for August – November.
The Shared Street choices are designed to spread the program throughout the city, and the City of Medford encourages residents to visit nearby “Shared Streets” to walk, ride their bikes, and enjoy the outdoors.
Shared streets are temporary interventions with cones and signage to give people more space to get around in their neighborhood car-free and safely. Local traffic, deliveries, and emergency vehicles will still have access to the street, but these interventions look to discourage cut through-traffic and prioritize the safe use of streets for pedestrians and bicyclists. Shared streets are a great way to maintain social distancing and stay safe during COVID-19 and beyond while enjoying the outdoors.
Medford’s Residential Shared Streets program includes signage at the entrance(s) to selected streets; no permanent or temporary furniture will be added to the street during the program. Local traffic, deliveries, and emergency vehicles will still have access to the street, but it will discourage through-traffic and prioritize the safe use of pedestrians and bicyclists.
