CITY OF MEDFORD TO HOLD COMMUNITY MEETING TO RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON PROPOSED PROJECTS FOR COMMUNITY PRESERVATION ACT FUNDING

The City of Medford will host a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, October 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to review and receive feedback on applications submitted by the City to the Community Preservation Committee for the FY21 Community Preservation Act funding cycle (see below for Zoom link and information). Input from the community meeting will help to refine the proposals before they are formally presented to the CPC during their meetings on November 5 and November 12. The CPC will deliberate and vote on recommending funding for these projects at their December meeting, after which the funding must be approved by City Council.

To help determine how these City projects can best meet the needs of the Medford community, the City is seeking input on proposals which include:

  • Carr Park Design Study for potential renovations
  • Dugger Park Tennis Court reconstruction
  • Gillis Park Master Plan Study to evaluate the area for potential renovations with a focus on ADA/AAB accessibility
  • Playground resurfacing at Tufts, Capen, and Cummings Parks
  • Playstead Park basketball court renovations
  • Tufts Pool improvements

“Medford’s parks and open spaces are some of our most valuable community resources, and I am committed to prioritizing improvements and renovations. To be sure these spaces best meet the needs of all residents, we want everyone to have an opportunity to weigh in on these and any future applications. The CPA funding is your tax dollars at work, and they should represent your priorities for our city,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn. “In addition to these projects, the Mayor’s Office, Recreation Department, Parks Department, and Office of Community Development are also working on a plan for how to use CDBG funding for other eligible parks. Eligible parks include Logan, Morrison, Brooks, Tufts, and Columbus Parks. It is my sincere hope that within the next year we can start to see some necessary and meaningful improvements at many of our parks and open spaces for residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy.”

You can review each proposal at THIS LINK, which can also be accessed through the CPC website at http://preservemedford.org/CPAProjects.
