Two board members reject Dracut Access TV confidentiality pledge
Organization seeks to limit communication as Selectmen seek oversight
DRACUT — Dracut Access Television’s new confidentiality policy for its board of directors and staff members has been rejected by at least two now former board members and possibly a third.
The confidentiality agreement was adopted in late October after several months of wrangling with the Board of Selectmen over access to financial information and accountability to DATV’s members, subscribers and the town. Directors and employees must sign the agreement to continue in their positions.
The board includes an appointee from the Board of Selectmen and an appointee from the School Committee. The confidentiality agreement seems to bar those appointees from communicating with their appointing authorities.
The agreement’s opening sentence states: “It is the policy of Dracut Access Television, Inc. (‘DATV’) that its Board members (including committee members), Officers, and Staff may not disclose to any person or entity confidential information belonging to DATV or obtained through their affiliation with DATV, except when authorized in writing by the Board or required by law.”
