Dear Mayor Curtatone and Keeper of the Records,
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that have information on the alleged eviction of Somerville Media Center from 90 Union Square:
a)the document containing the notice from the city to Somerville Media Center to leave 90 Union Sq.
b)any documents from Somerville Media Center responding to any such notice
c)any documents Somerville has regarding the Assembly Row satellite station and if the station left of its
own volition
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $10.00. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of public media, free speech and the behavior of officials at one station that may be in conflict with what the public expects and finds at another station.
As I am a journalist with my own popular news site and a contributing writer to a number of major publications,
I request - kindly - that you waive all fees.
This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within 10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request. Please respond via e mail
Sincerely,
Joe Viglione
