Why Christopher Columbus Now … ?

Changing the Columbus School name will only infuriate the common sense people who know that changing the name has nothing to do with bringing about better education for the children of Medford. Putting the children back into the classroom everyday while following proper safety and health protocols should be the ongoing everyday working goal.

This Columbus name change appears to be an attempt by some extreme progressives whose ideology is led by political, vote seeking individuals who are disrespectful to the historical, factual, religious and documented records of Columbus's life. They want to use anti-Columbus revisionist history as their mantra. ... but tolerance for rebuttal and discourse should not be dismissed.

With this school name change proposal, what would or could be next? I would not be surprised that issues advocating that the Holocaust ever occurred and should not be in our history books because it might offend someone … that being a pro-lifer is a danger to our everyday lives by those who argue that pro-choice is the alleged, national, standard of acceptance … that telling the truth is not as comfortable as telling a lie for social expediency … that publicly believing in God cannot compete against secularism being more productive to the will of one's mind … disrespecting and destroying our American flag for whatever someone’s political cause may be is a perfectly fine freedom of speech privilege … being politically correct is far more advantageous for one to get ahead than expressing one’s freedom of speech in rebuttal … and that the phrase "everyone's life matters" represents a systematic, prejudicial, racist, opinionated belief neither to be allowed or tolerated under any so-called alleged city that claims to be welcoming and diversified.

This whole Columbus School issue should be the galvanizing force for the citizens of Medford to wake up and realize that Medford's, well-paid, so-called educational leaders along with its' paid, scared to lose votes school committee members are moving our city in the direction to re-make Medford into a new Medford it need not be.

We are a city founded and grown up with a history that has given us many more smiles than frowns. We are not perfect now nor were we in the past. But we shall and should move forward with a community goal directed by common sense.

By changing this Columbus School name can be the pre-cursor for a community response action as stated by Englishman Earl Grey to Winston Churchill prior to the United States entering World War II. Earl stated “that the United States is like a gigantic boiler. Once the fire is lighted under it there is no limit to the power it can generate”. ... maybe I should not have said WW II so I would not have offended anyone ... but then again, it is part of history ... but thinking further, maybe we could or should eliminate history all together and start from scratch and see how that goes ... gee, can it be any worse ? ...

Let not mine or opposing comments ever be trashed because of not liking or by insulting the person who wrote them ... just thinking out loud for as long I am allowed to.
