Mayor Presents Budget to City Council Medford Transcript

Medford Transcript story on the Budget 

The budget is on the table. And then it was immediately taken off the table.

Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn last week submitted a $191.8 million budget for Fiscal Year 2022. The Medford City Council immediately tabled it, pending its review of sections and line items with department heads.

The budget, as it now stands, is $7,300,614 higher than the Fiscal Year 2021 budget of $184,479,028, which was $1,232,348 higher than the Fiscal Year 2020 budget of $183,246,680.

The School Department allocation is the largest at $63.7 million, up from $62 million in FY2021. Other items include $26,449,661 for insurance; $14,809,459 for the Police Department, $14,475,459 for the Fire Department, $ 13,336,414 for pensions, $5,378,915 for bonds and interest and $1,600,110 for the library.

The multi-headed budget for the DPW includes $24,315,596 for Water; $11,006,943 for Highways; $1,481,736 for Facilities; $997,959 for Cemeteries; $936,428 for Parks and $554,688 for Forestry.
