Friend --
Thank you so
much for your past support. I’m writing because I need your help
again.
I have an opponent even though I have led, acted, and
made the hard decisions on hundreds of issues that have been in the
best interests of our community.
With the hard work we have put in and the challenges
we’ve overcome in just 17 months, I’m ready to go head-to-head
with any opponent. But it’s important that our campaign has
the resources we need to get our message of good government to all of
Medford’s voters.
That’s why I’m asking
you for a donation to get my re-election campaign off to a strong
start. You can donate online at breanna4mayor.com or through this
button:
We’ll also be holding
a capacity-limited dinner event on June 22nd at Carroll’s
from 630-830pm. If you’re interested in attending, please purchase a
ticket by hitting below button or email David Koehn at
bay722@gmail.com.
I’ve never been one to
focus on campaign fundraising. That’s been especially true during the
last year. But it has left an opportunity for our opponents to try to
turn back the clock and reverse the progress we’ve made for
Medford.
I’m proud of our
community’s response to COVID19 – Medford showed that we could protect
public health while also encouraging economic opportunity. Successful
Covid-19 testing program within our schools and our school re-opening
strategy became a blueprint for cities all over the state. And we
focused on seniors, making over 11,000 calls, establishing one of the
first-in-the-state at-home vaccination programs, among so many other
initiatives. We led a fight against a horrible challenge we didn’t
know existed when I was elected Mayor and I am proud of the way we
responded.
I am also proud of the
work we continued to do despite Covid-19. We’ve built a foundation
that positions the City for future success, including kicking off a
professional, inclusive and comprehensive master plan to set a shared
vision for Medford’s growth, drafting a six-year Comprehensive Capital
Improvement plan, focusing on improving our fire facilities with a
design feasibility study being put out to bid this month, creating a
blue print for better parking that will be implemented this year,
advancing Charter review to the state house, and much more.
We’ve also improved
the way City Hall serves our community TODAY. Our efforts in
producing a transparent, balanced budget resulted in Medford being
awarded the first ever Distinguished Budget Award for our FY21 budget,
a proud accomplishment for the first budget under my Administration.
We are investing in our parks with construction on many to begin
throughout the summer. We revamped SeeClickFix to create greater
transparency and efficiency in our service response. We’ve focused on
substance abuse prevention, including prescription drug take-back
events. We’ve implemented a solution to reduce traffic accidents on
South and Main St. and have cleared the way for a permanent solution
after years of inaction. We’ve focused on food insecurity, harnessing
the best of Medford’s generosity in helping others meet a most basic
need. We’ve advanced critical police reform and training efforts. We
also led and participated in a series of difficult but necessary
community conversations. We are piloting composting to cut down on
waste and added a new recycling compactor to support recycling. These
are just a few of the actions we’ve taken to improve the way
government serves community.
Now with vaccination
numbers rising, and cases falling, we’re ready to make Medford the
best it’s ever been. Your city government will be right beside you as
we excitedly navigate the cities re-opening, work together to unite
this community and continue to do the great work with our residents
engaged every step of the way.
BREANNA BLAMES COVID, SHAMEFUL, EVERY ELECTED POLITICIAN FACED THE SAME DILEMMA - JV COMMENTARY
I’ve only been Mayor
for 17 months. When I was elected, I came to City Hall with a lengthy
list of priorities, your priorities. We only had 2 months to work
without the threat of covid interrupting our ability to connect and
focus on that list. Still, I am proud of what we’ve accomplished and
what the future holds if we keep working hard and fighting for our
great city.
It is critical that my campaign is in a strong position as
we enter the summer, and that’s why we have set a goal to raise
$20,000 from at least 200 people and send a message that Medford is
going to keep moving forward – not backwards. Your contribution will
help us reach this goal. It will allow us to share our
message.
Thanks in advance. And please don’t hesitate to call me with
advice on how to make our campaign and our work even more
successful!
Sincerely,
Breanna
Lungo-Koehn Mayor
PS – Please don’t put this aside thinking you will act
on it later. We need your help TODAY!
