City Council hears complaints over Columbus School renaming

Discussion of the renaming of the Columbus School spilled over into the Medford City Council when resident Anthony D’Antonio called the June 7 School Committee meeting “abhorrent."

"We had questions," D'Antonio said, of the June 8 meeting. "What an embarrassment the School Committee is. In the fall, I hope they’re all replaced.”

“People want to speak and aren’t being heard,” resident Richard Orlando added.

The matter is not under the jurisdiction of the City Council. It was not on the School Committee agenda, save a request for the Renaming Committee to extend its work period. The matter may be on the agenda June 14 or 21.
