Medford Expanding its Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure with Three Additional Locations

City Secured $100K State Grant to fund installation of new stations in West Medford, South Medford and at Brooks Elementary School

(MEDFORD)—The City has secured a $100,000 state grant to expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced. With this funding, the City will be breaking ground on three new EV charging stations—the West Medford Municipal Lot, Yale Street Municipal Lot and the Brooks Elementary School. The City is also in the process of breaking ground on a station at Tufts Park. The anticipated completion for the four funded stations is later this fall.

These stations will expand the total number of EV charging stations to 10, spread across several neighborhoods and transportation hubs throughout Medford. Currently installed stations are:

  • City Hall
  • Hormel Stadium
  • Medford Public Library
  • Carr Park
  • Missituk Elementary School
  • Medford High School

“Increasing the City’s EV charging infrastructure is a critical piece to achieving our climate goals,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “Green transportation options are the future of mobility and Medford is expanding its capabilities to promote and expand its usage among the population. Thank you to our Department of Planning, Development and Sustainability, Engineering Department and Department of Public Works for working to secure this funding and working to get these stations online.”
