The alleged victim was walking along Sharp Street at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, when the suspect approached her from behind, striking her in the head with an object before trying to drag her towards a nearby wooded area, police said. The girl’s age was not released.
Naeem Patrick of Dorchester was arrested shortly before 8:30 p.m. the same day by members of the Boston Police Department’s Special Investigations and Sexual Assault Units and District C-11 detectives, police said.
Patrick is due to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Tuesday on charges of assault with intent to rape and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, police said.
