Kristen Knouse violated the consensual relationships policy as well, and pointed the finger at Sabatini when they were both guilty!

In October, Sabatini filed a defamation lawsuit
against the Whitehead Institute and two of its scientists: its
director, Ruth Lehmann, and a junior colleague who had told
investigators that he sexually harassed her. In the lawsuit, Sabatini
called the Whitehead probe a “sham” and alleged that the junior
colleague was out “to punish an ex-lover.” The lawsuit is ongoing.
The junior colleague countersued in December 2021, calling Sabatini’s lawsuit frivolous and retaliatory.

“Significant concerns” also found about behavior to lab members
Reif wrote that the recommendation came from Biology Department Head
Alan Grossman, Dean of Science Nergis Mavalvala, and Provost Martin
Schmidt, who “found that Professor Sabatini behaved in ways incompatible
with the responsibilities of faculty membership” and violated MIT’s
2018 workplace policy governing consensual sexual relationships.
“Professor Sabatini engaged in a sexual relationship with a person over
whom he held a career-influencing role, he did not disclose the
relationship at any time to his supervisors, and he failed to take any
steps to relinquish his mentoring and career-influencing roles, as the
policy requires.”

HE WAS STUNNED, AND THE OTHER BOUNCERS BUCKLED OVER, I'M NOT KIDDING, BUCKLED OVER LAUGHING AT THEIR COLLEAGUE....BUT I BET YOU NO ONE REPORTED THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND VULGARITY BY PRESUMABLY THE NIGHT CLUB EMPLOYEE.

I'm 68 and a piano player volunteering for seniors. A 59 year old man sexually harassed me in the piano room. It was filthy, disgusting, unwanted and vile. Ugly, allegedly drunk, REPREHENSIBLE creature. IN A SECOND EVENT HE CALLED ME A QUEER (after I rejected his advances to drag me into the bathroom....uggggh!) for the entire street to hear.
The police wrote a report, and the police were professional and caring, unlike Medford.
January 12, 2023 the landlords got a 209A restraining order on him with an excellent attorney.
That is unwanted sexual harassment.
David Sabatini was prowling around, sure, but Kristen Knouse, the K You Next Tuesday, did not say "no", she jumped in willingly (the individual who attacked me was repulsive, "jumping in" was not an option. He was a troublemaker long before I moved in, so shame on the landlords for not having gotten rid of him a year ago...for other issues that we all know about)
The woman had an affair with a man, her regret a year or so later doesn't nullify the fact that they both broke the rules. Pointing the finger she probably wanted to deflect her own culpability in rule breaking. Kristen Knouse had consensual sex which was against MIT policy, so blowing the whistle on Sabatini, she blew it on herself.

What advice do you have to avoid a workplace problem like this in the future ?

People have been dating in the workplace forever, hard to stop human nature ...not that I condone it. It takes two to tango, rather than smear the guy, both individuals should have been let go. It is a complicated case (as are so many) but I fault M.I.T. for not having stricter controls...two people dating and there's no gossip? Please....how does that ever happen?
