JV Responds:

What's amazing about this comment section is that people don't fully understand the First Amendment.

 It is not an absolute.

Rick Hughes, the owner of the company with the hate sign, can get sued by the citizenry vis-a-vis "community standards." 100 lawsuits and he will be out of business for his hate speech. One could argue he's inciting violence against homosexuals, and argue it in a civil lawsuit, pointing out that you cannot yell "fire" in a crowded theater, no free speech protection there. Also, to write hate speech on Memorial Day is like Trump using the sacred day to promote himself, as he's done in the past and even today. Typical MAGA behavior looking for attention. A psychologist might say Hughes is in the closet deflecting so loudly. If nothing else, he is a troubled person, and I have the right to say that. But on this Memorial Day? Reprehensible. Just a child in need of attention, waaaaahhhhhhhh

We all have the right to litigate against him; let him pay for lawyers to defend his "free speech" right and watch him run like a typical MAGA coward. They talk a good game, but when the rubber hits the road, they run. He's most likely in the closet because, obviously, it's on his mind.

to Rowana:

Obviously you've never spoken at a city council meeting and been shut down. Politicians violate their oath every day and could care less. Over mundane things. If you want to act like MAGA and enable that clown, go for it. All sane people should sue him repeatedly until the coward gives up and starts behaving. We have free speech rights too, and litigation is one of them.

Yes, "by government," which censors every day in America. You people would make me laugh except that I take this stuff seriously Do a Google on censorship at city councils. Bet you never fought for your freedoms at town hall or city hall as I do, relentlessly. "Educate yourself," typical MAGA behavior, they don't want to be rational Rick Hughes is not the "government." If the government allows his "free speech," the community doesn't have to. We all can litigate against him showing our Free Speech.

Homosexuals have been harassed since the dawn of time, there is now the death penalty for gays in the Middle East, some backwards country, in the news last week. Sure, sue LGBT and we LGBT will countersue you for harassment. It works both ways. We have experience in court having been falsely accused for centuries. You are offensive, Kathy, and I want you to be a defendant in my case against you.

To a point. There is always civil court and a victim of hate speech has certain rights as well. Take MAGA and their "free speech" on January 6 sending a slew of them to prison for long stretches. Generally, where there is hate speech violence follows. This comment section is rife with people who think they are lawyers. I am not a lawyer, however, I am a free speech advocate in Massachusetts and my experience dealing with people who use hate speech is that it tends to go beyond speech. Sometimes hate speech is a veiled threat, and that is unacceptable.

MAGA behavior is an oxymoron, to quote the 3 Stooges, 1 percent Oxy, 99 % Mxxxxx ha ha ha ....the Blue Wave is here, and all the MAGA stooges are wearing their little red hats, going up to their rapture, then being dropped down to the bowels of hell with Donald Trump Jr. Enjoy your time in the hate speech swimming pool which Satan has waiting...
