Dear Channel 5

In your January 23, 2017 article by Kathy Curran subtitled

Officer is not arrested or charged

reporter Curran states: "Sacco, his father and the transit police union also did not comment. "

Oh his father did comment, when he threatened me on October 17, 2017 outside of Medford City Hall chambers for bringing the nasty little incident up for the public to hear outside of Channel 5

It took 9 months for another reporter to get a comment, solicited by Chief Leo A. Sacco, Jr. himself, the father of the suspect.

Sounding like the common-folk's Michael Corleone Police Chief Sacco asked me to go outside of Alden Chambers after I informed the Medford citizenry

SACCO: Joe, let's go outside and talk

So I follow the Godfather out of Alden Chambers and he looks at this reporter with malevolent eyes and threatens me

Sacco: "Don't you ever go after my family...you get the police service that you deserve"

Joe V:  Channel 5, Leo, fair game.

Leo A. Sacco Jr. "Sue me"  (the city solicitor, cover-up master Mark Rumley, walks in at this moment just as the conversation ends.)

I go home and send an e mail...we'll paraphrase it here:

"Dear Leo, you told me to sue you.  Who am I to defy a direct order from the Chief of Police.  See you in court."

We'll ask pertinent questions of Leo, under oath, about his niece and his son.

2)Police Chief's niece
In 2009, the Civil Service Commission found that the Medford Police Chief’s involvement in a hiring process in which the Chief’s niece was a candidate tainted the selection process. The Commission effectively rescinded the appointment of the Police Chief’s niece and ordered a new review process

Please put this in the WCVB Public File for the public to read, and do a follow-up story on the incident, if you can.

Sometimes Its a Family Affair

In 2009, the Civil Service Commission found that the Medford Police Chief’s   involvement in a hiring process in which the Chief’s niece was a candidate tainted the selection process. The Commission effectively rescinded the appointment of the Police Chief’s niece and ordered a new review process. In Minoie v. Town of Braintree, 27 MCSR 216 (2014) & 27 MCSR 615 (2014),  the Commission found that the Police Chiefs involvement in a hiring process in which his son was a candidate tainted the process. The Commission ultimately allowed the appointment but initiated an investigation in which the Town was ordered to modify its hiring practices to prevent similar future occurrences.

5 Investigates: alleged drunk driving incident involving T cop sparks investigations

At the time of the incident, the transit cop was off duty, in his personal vehicle, and with his department-issued gun. Sacco is a veteran, the secretary of the Transit Police Officers Association the son of Medford Police Chief Leo Sacco.
In addition to not being arrested or charged, sources said Sacco was not given field sobriety or Breathalyzer tests.

Transit Police were notified, MBTA transit officers picked up his truck and gun, and a relative took Sacco home, sources said. An hour later the scene was cleared.
