After an eight-day trial and more than 15 hours of deliberations over three days, a Lowell Superior Court jury yesterday found Meaney, a one-time potential candidate for Middlesex Sheriff, guilty of two counts of aggravated rape, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and breaking and entering.

Sometime around 2 a.m. she awoke to a clinking sound, which she later learned was Meaney's travel mug, and found Meaney in her bedroom, she said. He said he wanted to have sex. He grabbed her and digitally raped her.
He stopped when his cell phone rang. It was his wife. The couple would celebrate their wedding anniversary the next day.
The woman testified that she pulled her clothes back on and sat crying, unable to leave because she was afraid of what the 300-pound Meaney would do.
Meaney ended the phone call with his wife and grabbed the woman again.
"I was crying and I kept telling him to stop,"' she testified.
