Medford and the Capitol assault Jan 6: Politicians need to serve the citizens of their respective cities and towns. Seeing someone who complains about local government and wants to "correct" it happy that Trump's mobsters smashed windows in congress shows a bad temperament. It also shows that the individual will not stand up for what is right. These national issues do have an impact on Medford. The person in question appears to have bailed on our group yesterday. Fine by me, that kind of endorsement of violence has no place locally, nationally...anywhere. Today there is talk of invoking the 25th Amendment. I agree. Our safety here in Massachusetts, there in D.C., is paramount. As a pro-Trump mob stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday, President Donald Trump defended the insurrectionists to White House aides, an administration official told The Washington Post.
• The unnamed official quoted Trump as repeatedly saying "my people are peaceful" and "my people aren't thugs" and added that the president was reluctant to condemn them.
• According to The Post, aides were astonished at Trump's slow response to the violence, with the official calling the president a "total monster."
