1st and 2nd Takes SUPERSTAR: Eat Your Heart Out Karen Carpenter (Perhaps You Would Have Lived If You Did) GROUPIE (retitled by the Carpenters as "Superstar")

First take at 10:05 pm below

Second Take @ 10:14 pm

At 10:14 pm while watching Law & Order with Chris Meloni, I started working on an arrangement of "Groupie," written by Leon Russell and Bonnie Bramlett.

I co-produced Bonnie in 1988 at the New Kids on the Block studio, Mission Control.

This is my first take on the song.   Will be working on the arrangement, but I like where it is going.

The Carpenters recorded it as "Superstar."

"Superstar" is a 1969 song written by Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell with a songwriting credit also given to Delaney Bramlett[1] that has been a hit for many artists in different genres and interpretations in the years since; the best-known versions are by the Carpenters in 1971, and by Luther Vandross in 1983.

Carpenters

Karen Carpenter destroys the chorus, such a melancholy longing...and she makes it sound like ...the Partridge Family....horrible....

Once my arrangement is complete we'll teach Karen a good lesson in arrangement and legitimacy.    Sweet syrupy voice obliterates Bonnie's amazing original, GROUPIE

Now hear a REAL blues singer...
