LOWELL -- Tewksbury police Detective Michael P. Sheehan, the department's juvenile officer, allegedly asked the state troopers who charged him Wednesday with drunken-driving, second-offense, to give him "a break" and just drive him home.
Instead, Sheehan, 52, of Tewksbury, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol-second offense, failure to stop for police and marked-lanes violation.
In Lowell District Court Thursday, Judge Thomas Brennan released Sheehan, who has a 1985 drunken-driving conviction, on personal recognizance in connection with the incident on Interstate 495 in Chelmsford.

Sheehan is the brother of Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan. When contacted, Timothy Sheehan referred any departmental comment to spokesman Deputy Chief John Voto, who said Michael Sheehan was placed on administrative leave on Thursday pending an investigation into the matter.
