 http://medford.patch.com/groups/rock-journalist-joe-vig-/p/47-days-to-election-day-politicians-need-to-speak-out-924-at-the-city-council

This is an invitation from a citizen for all candidates for elected office to show up at the City Council of Medford on 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 and 10/29, the next six meetings over the next 47 days, over the next six and a half-seven weeks.

Politicians FLOCK to access TV in other cities and towns.  Somerville has a strict rule where politics can be discussed up to three days before the election, this is because of the infamous Vinny Piro campaign decades ago where "Dead Air Live" went on the night before election day: " Dead Air Live makes news by reading from transcripts of State Senator Vinnie Piro's trial for attempted extortion the night before election. Write-in opponent Sal Albano wins."

Access Television has become more inviting to those running for elected office these days, everywhere except for the city of Medford where the 501c3 has had a field day bashing politicians for sport, though a non-profit that has to abide by rules governing a 501c3 should not be engaging in such rhetoric.  Much of the onslaught against the politicians appears to have abated after an event on September 4, 2013.  More about that in a week or two.

My speech to the City Council is about finding 25,000 - 30,000 voters to come out November 5th and make a difference. It is also about urging the non-incumbents to give us their platform AT the City Council of Medford.  That's right, I urge all non-incumbents - Anthony D'Antonio, Jeanne Martin, Mark Crowley, Jimmy Morse, Adam Knight, Neil Osborne, Bob Fitzpatrick and Rob Cappuci to speak out every night there is a Council meeting (and maybe the school committee meetings as well) so that residents can see those new candidates on P/E/G and get a handle on their platforms.

Perhaps my most devoted reader, Arthur Alan Deluca of Medford Community Cablevision, Inc., had this to say: "
September 18, 2013 at 10:25 AM Saw you actually meeting Martha on the channel 5 news at 11 PM Monday night.; your face was on screen plain as day, so there can be no denying you met her. As for all these politicians having "no platform to speak" because TV3 is down... puh-leeze... they NEVER used TV3 Medford for themselves in all the years it was running. they relied instead on members asking them to be on their respective shows"

It's sad, though not surprising, to hear a board member of the non-profit make such a bold statement.  The job of a "volunteer" board of directors is to facilitate programming.  As I've stated from day 1 - go to Malden, Arlington, Somerville, Winchester, Cambridge, Boston and compare the flourishing access (300 or so members at Billerica Cable all allegedly showing up for a party!) and look at what a tiny group of individuals has done to the cable TV subscribers and citizens of Medford.

Mr. Deluca's feelings are now known.  He should resign immediately because he makes it clear that he doesn't want to do outreach, the key component in the contract.  All politicians know about Medford Community Cablevision, Inc. is that they can become a big target for board members, independent contractors and staff of the non-profit to go at them with a vengeance, to lift private copyrights like a wedding photo or other private intellectual property and slash and burn those cherished items that belong solely to the individual and not TV3.

I've been personally maligned almost on a daily basis by that individual who comments incessantly on my blog on Patch.  You can't sit down and talk logically to individuals who have an agenda.  It's the oldest story in the world, the citizens want to see the books of a non-profit we are funding, the station doesn't want us to see the books and they claim they are a "private corporation."  Judge Murtagh was very blunt in Superior Court noting it is a PUBLIC access station.

What I'm asking of citizens is two things:

1)Go to surrounding cities and towns and see the vibrant, flourishing access TV stations

2)Come out in droves on November 5th and vote for change.

It is very simple.  We've been given malarkey for close to 3 decades.
We pay for a product, we are not getting the product we are paying for. All the hyperbole, lip service and excuses cannot change that clear fact; indeed, all the white noise from the embattled station only goes to reinforce the fact that we cable TV subscribers are - again - being cheated during an election cycle.

WE GET LETTERS!

TV3 Board of Directors September 18, 2013 at 10:25 AM

Saw you actually meeting Martha on the channel 5 news at 11 PM Monday night.; your face was on screen plain as day, so there can be no denying you met her. (Editor's note: also no denying that her second-in-command and others in her office in touch with me now have a message from me to Martha about her Medford having no access TV. Think about it) As for all these politicians having "no platform to speak" because TV3 is down... puh-leeze... they NEVER used TV3 Medford for themselves in all the years it was running. they relied instead on members asking them to be on their respective shows. Well what if no one asked? None of them ever had a regular show on or anything more than an occasional campaign piece made for them by others. None of them ever picked up a camera to do something for themselves. Doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence in me. It's as if to say "your fellow residents believe in me, work for me; but I actually don't do anything. So vote for me and I'll do nothing for you while in office." Kudos to those challengers who actually stand on the street corners and hold their own campaign signs. They are showing the voters that they WILL to work to get things done!

One Final Note:

Investigating TV3 we've uncovered some of the most horrific stuff you can imagine.  As the sun is setting on TV3 it isn't even worth repeating the stuff one of the board members allegedly said about his own family member.  It is outrageous, it is downright awful, it only goes to the character of TV3, if the allegation is true.

But as the sun sets on TV3, it is not even worth mentioning here... other than that, if that individual did it to his own wife, the old adage is true "A man who treats his mother that way will do the same to his wife."

It is time to shut down TV3.  The evidence is overwhelming, and they aren't even on the air.
