It is vital for Medford residents to look at past campaign promises of Michael J. McGlynn and one of his three shills on the City Council, Paul A. Camuso.  You'll find Camuso's empty promise of filling empty store fronts with businesses was as hollow as Camuso's alleged "integrity."   A future story will have a list of addresses on Salem Street that are fit for haunted houses this Halloween, evidence of Camuso using lip service, not action, to attempt make a case for himself.

Unlike the "troll element" on the internets (thank you, George W. Bush, for the term "internets") some of us actually look Camuso in the eye at the City Council and tell him that he failed to back up that promise with results.

So the Old Farmer's Almanac tells us that the illusion alleged to be disruptive, "Mercury Retrograde" is happening just in time for election 2013!  What is more destructive to Medford life - a planet seeming to be parallel to earth or a 26-year incumbent monopolizing the media. Which brings us to the Medford Daily Mercury.  If the planet is going retrograde the newspaper with the same name is degrading, at an exponential rate.

According to the Farmer's Almanac site "

Mercury comes from the Latin word merx, or mercator, which means merchant. Mercury is the name given by the ancient Romans to the Greek mythological god Hermes."

Now the merchant Mercury, the Daily Mercury, has a photo on the front page, Friday, September 27th of a memorial for a Boston Marathon victim from Medford, but the Boston Harbor gazebo is obscured by a shameless Mayor desperately seeking a photo-op 38 days from November 5th, election day in Medford.
Equally hideous is the fact that a close friend of McGlynn's was arrested on September 4th for alleged "false bomb threats" at Station's Landing, where that individual resided (note that it is past tense).  So McGlynn, along with keeping the arrest of his friend out of the media (except for the Patch and now the City Council and government channel) is using the issue to promote himself on the front page of the newspaper.

An honest Mayor would recuse himself.  For example, in 2010 and 2012 I won awards for public access television and film, respectively.  In 2011 I was told that I was all but certain to win again because of the high quality programming that I produced in a town next to Medford.  I kindly requested they NOT put my name on the ballot; yes, I had brought incredible guests along with lots of community work for that town but I wanted to share the opportunity.  The new Executive Director did reference myself and another previous winner at the party, something he didn't have to do, and something I thank him for, but the key is to step aside after you have been acknowledged and let someone else have the opportunity.
Michael J. McGlynn doesn't understand that concept.  The deadline for the award that I won last year is September 30th.  I have decided not to enter a new video, for the same reason, it is important to let other people get the same opportunity.  It's something Michael J. McGlynn, who uses his position to put his family and friends into positions many of us don't believe they deserve; many of us feel those individuals couldn't obtain without help from a self-centered politican.

There on page 3, above the fold, is a smiling McGlynn taking a check for a dog park.  $1,700.00.  Big deal.  Why isn't the Medford Mercury writing about the alleged $700,000 used for a study of the parking garage?  We could have lots and lots of "dog parks" and better infrastructure if an out-of-control Medford Mayor who makes Mayor William Lantigua of Lawrence look like the novice at alleged corruption that he is  lets us know where every red cent of that alleged "Garage study" went, and why.

McGlynn gets the tip of the ol' hat for being a thousand times more suspect than Lantigua, and with 26,000 people NOT voting in the last election, though they were registered and failed to do their civic duty, the blame must fall on them, not those of us who know Anthony D'Antonio would bring a breath of fresh air to City Hall.

Mercury is going retrograde, while the Medford Mercury is starting to fade.
