Dear Public Records Division:
As
usual, the City of Medford is not in compliance, REFUSING to be in
compliance, with a public records request dated May 12, 2016.
As the Public Records Division is well aware, the highly secretive Medford City Hall does not want residents to know
anything. They delay the requests, they allegedly overcharge in my opinion, they seem to play games with the
Public Records law just as we residents / ratepayers put good money into public access tv that city hall is terrified
of.

This is the element we are dealing with, and they love to chill free speech.

Dear Public Records:
This week the Medford City Solicitor charged me $2.00 for a letter from his office which contained no documents. In a smug response he noted that he said he had "no documents" in his e mail to me.
1)Mark E. Rumley, City Solicitor, is playing games with the public records law
2)Have you noticed they have NO DOCUMENTS for anything at city hall?
Nothing about dismissed
teachers, nothing about new hires.
Either they are sending smoke
signals, intentionally not making documents so that the public can't
have access to information, or there's the allegation that they shred or
simply refuse to hand pertinent material over.
3)The fees from Medford City Hall swing wildly . Sometimes they are free, sometimes it is Twenty dollars, sometimes over one hundred dollars, and now this insult of $2.00.
IS
there an agency that polices individuals like Solicitor Rumley or
School Superintendent Roy E. Belson who are both part of this "cone of
silence," what we call "the mayor's media blackout."
They are angry at information going public and act as if they are a private corporation.
Some of these individuals have been in such a long time that they think they are Fidel Castro. That is not a joke. That is the sad reality in Medford. Meeting minutes were not kept at a 501c3 that had a contractual obligation with the city (Medford Community Cablevision, Inc.) At other non-profits not so affiliated with the city there were allegations - the fellow at Pop Warner skated while Stanley Komins at the West Medford Hillside Little League went to prison; Komins passed away a few months ago, the stunning response from one of the hacks, former council president Robert A. Maiocco "He (Komins) always did a good job" - Maiocco's response after Komins' arrest.
There you have it. That is what is going on in Medford.
How
do I address this perpetual problem of little or no response to
requests, especially when it is obvious that documents have to exist
somewhere.
