MEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - Two firefighters were taken to hospital for evaluation after responding to a 3-alarm fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Medford early Saturday morning, officials said.
Fire crews responding to a reported fire on Newbern Avenue found flames shooting out of the roof of the and windows of the apartment upon arrival, according to Medford firefighters.
The fire started in an unoccupied apartment in what firefighters called “hoarder-like conditions.”
No additional information was immediately available.
Here is the News Report
There are a couple of folks who live in the area who now need some housing support during the rebuild.
A fire in the 3rd floor condo at 72 Newbern Ave, Medford on Sat August 27 destroyed that unit and the first and second floor units had such extensive water damage that they are uninhabitable.
First floor couple are staying with family out of state until they can find another place. She’s a grad student at Tufts so she needs to be close enough to do her research; he can work remotely.
We are trying to help them and wondered if our Neighbors of Tufts or South Medford might have some housing ideas in the area.
Thanks for considering this and please contact me with any information you may have.
