The City of Malden is developing a Master Plan for the rehabilitation and improvement of Fellsmere Park, an 18-acre public park consisting of a large pond, open lawn and wooded areas, and meandering pathways. Fellsmere Park is an historic, Olmsted-designed park bound by Fellsway East, Savin Street, Fellsmere Road, and West Border Road. A portion of the park is located in Medford.

The purpose ofthe Master Plan is to create an overall plan for future, phased constructionwork, which would guide improvements at the park going forward as fundingbecomes available. The goals include (1) public safety, (2) stabilization ofexisting amenities and historic or environmental resources, (3) improvementsfor public use and access, and (4) expanded park amenities.

The developmentof the Master Plan will include the following phases of work:

  • Existing Conditions Assessment
  • Draft Master Plan & Design Alternatives
  • Final Master Plan

The public isencouraged to attend the First Public Meeting virtually to review the existingconditions assessment and to share with the City and consultant team what YOUwould like to see in your park. Meeting access information will be forthcoming!
