June 1986 – Suspension No. 2: Failure to appear at court cases
LeBert is suspended for five days for failing to testify in a court case on March 20.
His suspension notice from Medford Police Chief John H. Keating ends: “That your failure to appear on the specified date resulted in the case being dismissed for lack of prosecution.”

LeBert and his uncle, Richard LeBert, also a Medford Police officer, get into a fight with a Woburn man who had allegedly spit on LeBert’s wife.
The man, Paul Thompson Jr., brought a criminal case for assault against Richard and Stephen LeBert to a Somerville District Court judge, but no judgment was found.
A civil case in 1994 resulted in a $100,000 judgment against Richard LeBert. His attorney, Thompson and the state agreed to a settlement of $49,000, which the city of Medford eventually paid.
The Medford Police Department investigated the incident, and both officers were suspended for being out of the city while on duty.
