in my opinion if the administration screwed up they should be held liable not the kids

It is embarrassing that MHS appealed the decision. It's a team sport, and the rules were broken. They win and lose together. The injustice is not that MHS was told to forfeit their season. The injustice is that another team in MA could have made it into the tournament and missed out because MHS had an ineligible senior on the team. What are we teaching the kids? When you do something wrong and are handed a consequence, act like YOU were wronged?
The names are NOT being mentioned to keep the retaliation possibilities down!
*These are not in the order in which they were written. Posting here so people get a clearer understanding that purportedly Mrs. Burke was a non-factor in getting the team to play, it was the school superintendent that allegedly did the work.
But did another team deserve to lose its spot so that Medford could be in the game (Medford lost 2-1)
Nov. 15th "What's with all the helicopters today?"
News channels reporting on the mhs soccer situation ☹️

I saw the channel 5 news van near the HS earlier.

They had a player on the roster through the tournament that was ineligible the athletic dept didn’t follow through with the paper work for a waiver allowing this player to
Play so the miaa made them forfeit the season
An appeal has been made to properly submit this waiver and allow them to play for the north title tomorrow night
A meeting has been scheduled today at 330 at MIAA to vote if the waiver will be approved and allow him to
Play and allow the team to play in the north final

Paperwork WAS filed properly WITH the administrator in charge. Somehow it was lost and admitted as so by said administrator. Not the kid's fault, He had no idea

response: So he filed for a waiver, but never received 1. Until he received 1, he should not have been playing. The whole team should not have been in the playoffs.

Response: no, he filed the paperwork as needed. Between when he handed it in and where it was supposed to have been filed, it got misplaced.

They didnt legitimately earn a playoff spot, and another team in the state could have made it. Is that fair to THAT entire team?

Did he file it properly and it got misfiled? Any possibility he didn't KNOW it wasn't filed??

Point being, YOU don't have all the facts. Yes, you're entitled to voice your opinion for sure but to spout it's embarrassing for them to appeal is narrow minded at best. I'm sure if it was YOUR kid that was the focus of this and it was an ADMINISTRATIVE error you'd go ballistic if they DIDN'T appeal..
Person responds: "Let me Know"

I have no idea what the facts are, I'm just offering a different scenario to your opinion. Also, Having a child that plays a sport at a high level, I see things like this more often than expected.
