lebertgate DAY 6
(It was 7 days ago tonight LeBert did the dirty deed, 6 days of LEBERTGATE where the media got hold of the story and it skyrocketed across America...)

  • I honestly believe in the necessity of law enforcement, but I also think our system has, in many jurisdictions, lost its way and lost its purpose. It's clear it's not just "one bad apple" any more. There are crate loads of bad apples, on the Internet and the evening news, almost daily.

I know there are a lot of good cops out there who are proud of their training and believe they and their cohorts are doing good work. But I'm well past wondering if perhaps they've, yes, been trained very well in combat and enforcement... but are being poorly trained at being police, being officers of the peace.

There seems to be far more 'protect' than 'serve', where 'protect' has taken on a militaristic interpretation. Nowadays it seems to mean "If we have our guns trained on everyone, if they live in fear of us, then no one will get out of line."

This guy is a perfect example of that. Sadly, the Internet is full of examples just like him.
