Where the Boys Are

Shoulda performed Where the Boys Are last night at my Easter performance in Cambridge.

Oh well...did The Dock of the Bay and Louie Louie, first time I ever peformed "Dock of the Bay" and people were surprised when I credited versions by my friend Bobby and Marty, of course ...ha ha...they were waiting for Otis Redding...who wrote the song...

Since it was a blues night Where the Boys Are would have been inappropriate !  :)

So I asked the audience if they wanted the clean lyrics to Louie Louie or the DIRTY LYRICS!

Discretion being the better part of valor, I was singing Richard Berry's original clean reggae lyrics..."I see Jamaica moon above" instead of the Kingsmen "I stick my finger..." you get the idea.  Suddenly, some powerful blues singer grabbed the microphone and did a dirty, filthy line that was NEVER in the song before. He was fantastic, so ...of course...I had competition and had to go Kingsmen, ahem, for the final verse..."I shut her eyes and I  XXX (begins with L) her again...GET THAT BROAD OUT OF HERE!"

Ha ha...I tried to go clean...but the audience wants want the audience wants...
