Open Meeting Law Pending Complaints displays all Open Meeting Law complaints currently being reviewed by the Attorney General’s Division of Open Government.  Open Meeting Law complaints must first be filed with the public body that is alleged to have violated the law. G.L. c. 30A, § 23(b).  The public body must review the complaint, take remedial action, if appropriate, and send a response to the complainant and the Attorney General. G.L. c. 30A, § 23(b); 940 CMR 29.05(5).  Open Meeting Law complaints do not appear in this display unless the complainant is unsatisfied with the public body’s resolution of his or her Open Meeting Law complaint and has filed the complaint with the Attorney General. G.L. c. 30A, § 23(b); 940 CMR 29.05(6).  Upon the receipt of a complaint by any person, the Attorney General shall determine, in a timely manner, whether there has been a violation of the Open Meeting Law.  G.L. c. 30A, § 23(c).  For more information, please contact the Division of Open Government at openmeeting@state.ma.us or (617) 963-2540.
