Dear Ms. Camuso and/or To Whom it May Concern:
Greetings,
Regarding
the posting for a station manager of Medford Community Media. I intend
to file a formal resume' and letter in the near future, however, let
this "Part 1" put onto public record what Medford needs, and what
award-winning producer Joseph A. Viglione can provide.
1)Joe
Viglione submitted the ONLY proposal in response to Mayor McGlynn's
request for proposals for a legitimate public access station to work
with the city to provide a platform for the expression of free
expression, creative ideas, free speech and more for Medford residents
2)In
that proposal it was noted - and I'm paraphrasing myself here - that
the mayor (McGlynn, at the time, and currently Stephanie Muccini-Burke)
would have a conflict assuming the title of "issuing authority" -
especially under Plan-A Government.
3)The
Mayor chose Ben Brown to be station manager, and Mr. Brown was most
disappointing - as much of a failure as the four
not-ready-for-prime-time managers hired before him in Medford - Daniel
Sarno, Dawn Natalia, Jason Salzarulo and "Big" Steve Marra.
It
was just more proof that Mayor Burke doesn't understand access
television. Since Joe Viglione first started in access TV in 1979, he
brings the better part of four decades to the table. This is invaluable
experience that no one in Medford can match.
With
the failure of Ben Brown to last a year (at least he lasted longer than
Teresa Walsh - a story that I broke hours before the mighty Medford
Transcript - my article actually forcing the weekly paper's hand: http://medford.wickedlocal.com/news/20160218/medford-mayors-chief-of-staff-teresa-walsh-resigns ) we have a pattern of Mrs. Burke unable to find individuals who can move Medford forward.
To
be polite, Ben Brown was a huge disaster - especially since Mrs.
Muccini-Burke was on the city council, and clearly working in concert
with Joe Viglione to better the access situation.
The problem for Medford is that Mrs. Muccini-Burke has also provided clear evidence that she retaliates against anyone who voted for her opponent, Robert M. Penta.
So much for:The city of Medford is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/504 Employer.
That
is not a true and accurate statement when the current Administration is
crony-infested and will sue you for "witness intimidation" if you dare
report the City Clerk physically assaulted you in an attempt to silence
you during an election year.
The
City Lawyer will falsely claim it never happened, yet you can't have a
"witness intimidation" trial if a crime had not been committed by Ed
Finn.
Just pointing this out to prove that the Administration discriminates and plays favorites.
4)Yvette
Wilks, Jay Campbell and Gabby Follet Sumney, God love them, are nice
enough people, but - again - Mrs. Burke is in water too deep to stand in
so, consequently, Jay, Gabby and my pal Yvette (sorry Yvette) are
totally out of their depth as well.
A station manager "reporting" to Jay Campbell who:
a)Chairs
a Cable Advisory Board using first names of individuals in a discussion
"Judy, Jack, Krissy" with the Open Meeting not allowing the public
attending to know who the hell Campbell is discussing
b)failure
to vote on a key part of the discussion that was up for a vote, until
Gabby reminded the chair that...oh well, go to my videotape to see for
yourself
c)Campbell
discussing his own TV show on the station, a clear conflict of
interest, the chair of the advisory board sliding on the Medford
Community Cablevision, Inc. slope of infomercials - the Money Managers,
the Frankie Fabulous Show...what next, Fabulous Jay Campbell and his
Fabulous Real Estate. That is NOT public access and it is offensive of
this mayor to install a crony rather than someone who has a clue about
cable TV, not to mention someone who has a clue about steering a
committee
Definition of steering committee: An advisory committee usually made up of high level stakeholders and/or experts who provide guidance on key issues
What a joke. It says more about the censorship in this city than it does about what residents deserve vis-a-vis access TV
_____________________________________________________________________
5)This professional has told the city council time and again what we truly need:
a)A van with a couple of cameras separate from the high school
b)computers
at the library for editing purposes. Mr. Rumley's bizarre speech to
the press thwarting that idea which was generated by Mr. Rick
Caraviello, one of the few good thoughts the council president has put
forward, and championed by yours truly, disregarded so that the city,
ostensibly, could use the franchise fee as what Detective McLean noted
could be perceived as a "second tier tax."
Mark Rumley's statement:
Rumley said language in
the deed is specific that the library not be used for purposes other
than its original intent. Should that restriction be broken, the land
reverts back to Magoun’s heirs.
In the opinion,
Rumley states Magoun “himself underscored his insistence that the
restrictions be fully honored” in a letter to the selectmen on Jan. 22,
1875 in which he stated, “the title therein contained will be forfeited
should this stipulation at any time not be strictly complied with.”
Mark,
Mark, MARK, enough already. We have computers at the library. This
balderdash is almost as insulting as your CORI check for members, but no
CORI check if you rent the high school.
Hypocrisy abounds.
As
station manager I will cut the red tape right at the ribbon cutting and
educate Yvette, Jay and Gabby when we install a real board of directors
and let them be members where they can learn access TV from a true
veteran of access television.
_________________________________________________________________
The job description in this "Station Manager (worldwide) Search" mixes apples, oranges, pears and dolphins. It's absurd.
As Executive Director I will responsibly deal with personnel matters and give the proper jobs to the proper hires.
That
is, of course, providing the city of Medford wants to ethically
distribute the access TV monies to the proper areas - Public,
Educational, Governmental, and stop the vacuum known as the "general
fund," the paying of three teachers allegedly with the governmental
channel monies, this mayor using the access monies that I saved this
city (along with Bob Penta and Doreen Wade, though Joe Viglione was the
primary force behind shutting down TV3) spending them on educational and
governmental with access TV being the proverbial red-headed step child,
kicked to the curb and assaulted and insulted.
Equal Opportunity Employer? IN what universe. Access TV in Medford is a travesty.
Mayor
Burke doesn't know how to hire, Teresa; Mayor McGlynn did NOT want to
hire anyone competent, and cable TV subscribers are left in the dust.
If
you want access TV, and Joe Viglione fighting on behalf of cable
subscribers to get the monies out of the general fund and into access
TV, well, I'm your man.
If you want Yvette, Jay and Gabby kissing Muccini-Burke's backside with more aggression than a Somerville TV board member colleague of Yvette's locked in a room with handsome Mayor Joseph Curtatone, that that board member informed me he is pretty much obsessed with, then forget this correspondence, as you are going to do anyway.
Real access: I am access television.
Fake Access - keep Stephanie Muccini-Burke as Issuing Authority
Stop Polarizing Our City: hire Joe Viglione
Regards
JV
