Former Attorney General Martha Coakley is coming under fire over her position at the multi-billion-dollar e-cigarette company Juul, as public health officials sounded the alarm on vaping-related illnesses.

“It’s really sad to see Martha hanging in there,” said Richard Daynard, president of the Public Health Advocacy Institute at Northeastern University. “She shouldn’t have joined in the first place.”
The Herald on Wednesday reached out to Juul to interview Coakley, but the company declined to make her available. Coakley, a Democrat who squandered her lead over Scott Brown in the 2010 Senate election and also lost to Charlie Baker in the 2014 governor race, earlier this year joined Juul’s government affairs team.
