MICHAEL J. MCGLYNN NOT BEING HONEST WITH THE CITIZENS OF MEDFORD

WHY IS THIS ARTICLE NOW MISSING FROM THE MEDFORD TRANSCRIPT?

IT'S A PRESS RELEASE FROM CITY HALL

March 21, 2011
Mayor Michael J. McGlynn announces he is actively looking for Medford residents who may be interested in serving on Medford’s Cable Advisory Commission or the Chevalier Civic Auditorium Commission.
The city is looking for people who may have an interest in volunteering to serve on either of these boards. Both boards meet approximately once per month. They do not meet during the months of July and August.
The Chevalier Civic Auditorium Commission is made up of (5) members who can be appointed for up to a (5) year term. The Chevalier Commission supervises the auditorium and can also act as a fundraising arm for it as well.
An annual report of all activities is required yearly from the Chevalier Commission to the Mayor’s Office.
“Currently, there are (4) active members serving on the Chevalier Commission, and we are looking for a fifth member,” McGlynn said. “Interested parties should have a background in either; engineering, marketing or have a strong interest/background in the arts.”
In much of the same manner, the Cable Advisory Commission acts in a supervisory role to the local cable channels, by recommending policy changes, meeting with cable company representatives to discuss issues of mutual interest, report to the mayor on company compliance with the license, respond to citizen questions regarding the cable television system and keep the community informed about community programming.
This seven member commission is looking for (3) additional members who may have a background in media and technology or in marketing.
Interested parties should submit a cover letter and resume to the mayor’s attention as soon as possible to 85 George P. Hassett Drive, Medford MA 02155.
